With the current engine, there's a limit due to precision calculations on how far outside from the Milky Way a star can be placed. Farthest distance without incurring in stars "jumping" around their scripted position, and generally not being in their intended positions, is the distance of Magellanic Clouds, about 65 kiloparsec, so it's not possible to place a star at 9 megaparsec.

I've seen mods with stars in Triangulum and Andromeda, past the limit.

As far as I know, they all suffer from the same precision issue, and the stars "jump" around their assigned position, even considering that Andromeda galaxy, for example, is less than 800 kiloparsec from Earth. I should have been more precise. You *can* place a star at 9 million parsec. But you won't have much control on its position, because of precision limitation on how the engine can place catalog stars and planets.

Is 9 million parsecs a big number? I have never done that before

9 million parsecs is 29.4 million light years. (There are 3.26 ly to a parsec.) And that's a little more than 10 times the distance to the Andromeda galaxy. Distant in comparison to nearby galaxies, though not that far compared to the size of the observable universe.

9 million parsecs can be considered a record number at the present time that no one has broken, I am quite surprised by this number. Good good!
