I have a problem with red dwarfs (so far, only a select few). Every time I get close to the Proxima Centauri system at certain angles, the screen goes entirely black and I have no option but to close out of the game window and restart the program, hoping the "crash" won't happen again. The same is true if I try to come within 4.7 light-hours of Alpha Centauri B.
Most times I'm still able to move during the "blackout" even though I cannot see what I'm doing. If I move far enough and then reboot the program, the graphics come back on. This time, however, nothing's working. From the preview I can see on the home screen (which, by the way, I cannot access once I enter a "blackout"), I am stuck on Proxima 4 and I cannot move. I can do absolutely nothing but flail blindly in-game and keep rebooting after each flailing session.
Things to know that will affect solution recommendations:
- My computer has the recommended hardware including the graphics card. I made sure of this before I downloaded the program in the first place.
- I doubt it's an artefact of the in-game graphics settings because I've fiddled with every possible setting in the tab and nothing I have tried relieves me of the "blackout".
- I'm not sure if it's a legitimate bug since I've searched my problem online and nothing relevant came up.
Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this are appreciated. I'm rather fed up at this point.
