Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

04 Feb 2019 14:30

According to this, SpaceEngine is determining that your graphic card doesn't use OpenGL 3.3:
INITIALIZING OPENGL
[MT] Vendor:   Microsoft Corporation
[MT] Renderer: GDI Generic
[MT] Driver version: 1.1.0
[MT] OpenGL version: 1.1.0
[MT] GLSL   version: 0.0
[MT] Extensions: NONE
[MT] CRITICAL ERROR: Old OpenGL version (1.1.0). Ignoring and continue startup.
[MT] CRITICAL ERROR: Old GLSL version (1.1.0). Ignoring and continue startup.
[MT] CRITICAL ERROR: Required OpenGL extensions are missing:
It detects default drivers, and it cuts short just when is trying to determine how much of your videoRAM from your computer can be used.
From the log we can only infer that your PC is a dual core with 2GB of RAM. I guess it could be possible that Spaceengine is failing in examining your system, though.
What exactly are your computer specifications, RAM, graphic card and operating system?

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

I apologize if this was already asked in the forum: When downloading the Solar System HD or Ultra files, I am not clear on how many files I am supposed to download for each object. For example, Mercury: Am I supposed to download the HD and PBC files for 32k, or only one of them, or all five of the available files? Thanks for your patience with a brand new user.

When downloading the Solar System HD or Ultra files, I am not clear on how many files I am supposed to download for each object.
If you want the 'Mercury-Surface-PBC-64k.pak', you also need to download 'Mercury-Surface-PBC-32k.pak' and 'Mercury-Surface-PBC-16k.pak'.
If you only want the 32K package, you will also need to download the 16K package.
If you want the 128K package, you have to download all the files.
(And of course the 'bump' packages.)

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

05 Feb 2019 04:34

I used to have an older monitor where I always used Space Engine. I made a hobby of taking 4k res screenshots. I did this by using a script that forced my window to change resolution to 4k. I only did this for a few seconds because it wasn't playable in this state due to lag and my monitor. However, it worked and I was able to capture a pic in those few seconds and they would come out great. Now to address the problem. I got a new monitor and when I tried to take a screenshot (by using the same script since it's still not 4k) everything worked except one thing. The stars had no Diffraction Spikes. I don't know why these diffraction spikes work in 1080p but not in 4k. I have tried reinstalling to no avail. Here are some screenshots: [img][/img]

4k    ^
As you can see the spikes aren't there but it's the same star.
I've been using this website as a guide (it's also where I got the script) and it's worked until i got a new monitor. Here's the link to it:https://nirklars.wordpress.com/2015/02/ ... reenshots/

P.S. It might not be the monitor, but timing seems to suggest it. Please help me. I want to continue making wallpapers and I can't now.
):            (Also I don't know how to attach the log)

I just figured out that getting too close to a star will turn off diffraction spikes. For some reason going into 4k extends the distance of how far you need to be for this to happen. Sorry for the unnecessary post. Thank you and hopefully there's a work around to it.

Thanks, JackDole - May I ask what the difference is between the HD and PBC files? Any loss of performance if I just download all the files for each? Or is that just a waste of filespace because SpaceEngine will only use one or the other? Thanks again - very much.

Never mind - I see that the HD files are the 'bump' packages that JackDole was referring to.  My apologies for the unnecessary posts.

DeCoolePeer, do you have an intel graphic card? Please use https://pastebin.com/ to post your se.log file, which is located in your SpaceEngine/system/ folder, and give us here the address of the file.

You probably have an Intel 2000 or Intel 3000 graphics card. This graphics card does not work with SpaceEngine!

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

12 Feb 2019 07:44

Hello!
Did anyone experience similar graphics problem before?
Version: 0.9.8e, Mods: none,
In 0.9.8 the problem doesn't appear. Cache folder removal usually doesn't solve the phenomenon. Only appears if using a spaceship.
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Latest driver. Windows 10 OS.

Thank you for your support!
