Ah, my mistake, all I remembered was that they were handled differently and completely separate graphically, I poorly understand graphics (engines/terminology) so forgive my lack of understanding.Rings rendering is not a "post processing trick", it is a volumetric ray marching shader that is integrated with the scene.

As for the steam post, that was very informative, I did recall you guys assembling a team, sad that fell apart (or finished, whatever the context). It is good that you guys are trying to get a team together still, you guys are literally building a universe after all (even if indirectly through procedural generation and processing/extrapolating catalogues).
