Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Heyo everyone,

So I have two relatively major problems in particular

The first one has to do with semi transparent terrain, which is especially noticable around canyons
[url=
[/url]
The second one has to do with how the tint of the planet changes, when pressing ESC to the main menu, and then resuming

Any help would be appreciated

On many superoceanic aquarias, if clouds, atmosphere and water are disabled, the seafloor has a banded texture like this:
Image

Speaking of the seafloor, I know that if we approach an ocean at greater than 1.5 km/s, the camera will stop when it reaches the surface. But if I'm under the surface and I intentionally try to dive toward the seafloor, when my speed goes above 1.5 km/s I'm instantly returned to the surface.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

I hope this doesn't come across as disruptive, but my post asking from help from last night kind of got buried under more recent posts without getting a reply so I'll state my problem again in hopes of getting a helpful answer.

SpaceEngine itself seems to launch normally, but once I get to the title screen, after about three seconds the program stops reacting and I can't ever continue to the actual simulator. Note that SpaceEngine 0.980 does work just fine on this laptop. And yes, I updated my drivers to most recent version. What could be the issue?

half of the time functions. :

- Reverse Time
- Reset Time
- Manual Time entry into the time display field.
Is it possible that you are in Flight Simulator mode? go back to the main menu and choose "Planetarium".
Steam: Application load error 3:0000065432
did you try with this suggestion?
imbamakaber, you could try and disable temporarily your antivirus, as it seems an error appearing with several games on Steam, not related exclusively with SpaceEngine. Antivirus programs, as they do, are very picky with their predictive algorithms, to the point of removing perfectly fine operating system components at times. If it works, you can usually place SpaceEngine in an "ignore list".
If it doesn't, well we'll try something else.
Nvidia's GeForce Experience app tells me that my card does have the most current drivers. Their website says that the driver you linked is the most recent one, but when I try to install it, the install fails and I get an error message saying that the driver from the website isn't compatible with my hardware.
your Graphic card appears to be kind of a peculiar case for that, as the link I provided tells that those drivers are indeed intended for your GT 820M, while the PDF with details about it is not actually listing your card as suitable for that update. Around the time your chipset was pushed into market Nvidia was changing some chipsets hence probably the issue. I'd try and see if the website of the laptop manufacturer has some updated drivers four your model, hopefully solving your issue.
The built in video recorder also doesn't seem to work, the fps drops to almost 0 when recording and almost all inputs become unresponsive. this is will all codecs too.
That's how it works, even with the best hardware FPS are not fluid during recording as far as I know, but I'd like to have confirmations from people that worked at promotional SE videos.
In General IC1101 is very buggy, the number of stars in it is very low, it is like travelling through huge empty galaxy most of the time. The map mode in this galaxy also is bugged.
There's a software limitation to the number of stars in a galaxy with this version of the engine, due to the need of using limited hardware for this real time simulation, instead of supercomputers. Unfortunately as a result of an extreme case, star density in IC1101 is very low.
Does the new version create a places-user.cfg at some point? Notice it's missing and when I rename anything on the Wiki
places-user.cfg should be in your SpaceEngine/config folder, if it's not you could have permission issues, I'd try to check local files from the Steam client. User's Wiki seems to have a bug at the moment, in that it's not created automatically. A user suggested a fix but I don't have the solution at hand right now.
So the problem is that, once the program is done loading and gets to the title screen, it sort of freezes/crashes and I can't get past the (otherwise beautiful looking) title screen.
Hi RockoRocks, according to your se.log your integrated AMD Radeon 7400G has 512MB of VideoRAM, which is below low specifications for SE 0990.
I do need to read more before i jump the gun buuuuutt still not sure on SLI
I do remember that you wrote more than one line and I was trying to help as I could but I see you edited your post while I was writing my memories here, oh well...
I don't have info about SLI, but I'll make sure I'll report again your issue to Vladimir.

I gather from your other posts that you don't like this forum and you would prefer quicker answers (who wouldn't?) but please take your time in exploring the place. I hope you are aware that, with the notable exception of Vladimir which is living from donations since I believe last year, people here is voluntarily spending their spare time to help.
In relation to your question about PDF guide? i think, see my mods page for a PDF version of the website manuals, the chapter about scenario scripts is up-to-date since few builds ago and I don't think it changed, hopefully will be enough for your needs.

That's okay, I have a second laptop which is equally old, weak and outdated, but at least that can actually run SE. It's at staggering frame rate of 4-5 FPS, but it's about the best I've got right now so might as well be happy with it. I'm looking to get an actually decent PC sometime the coming year. Thanks for replying and have a good day, I will always love SpaceEngine so much!

I haven't seen it in the folder as I did with the pre-Steam version, so I will have to check into that. But could just be related then to the Wiki bug I reported over on Steam then. Didn't see the fix though, will have to try and search for that.

Another issue, is how do you get the quotes to work on here? Mine never seem to work, even with using the " button on a post?

I do not think it is engine limitation. If I increase the amount of stars manually from 7 to 10 when I am in IC1101, there is no problem at all. If I do the same in Milky Way then I have a problem of lag. It is the density that matters. I'm sure a solution can be found to such huge galaxies, maybe making them a special type of galaxy, not just an oversized version of an ordinary galaxy.

Possible catalog error with HR 8976 (Kappa Andromedae), incorrect temperature resulting in this surreal red-green color seen from Earth. It's a blue sub giant with a recorded temperature of over 10,000 kelvin, shows up as 1,127 K.

That was fast, you time traveled or something xD

Found a new one I think: WISE 0458+6434 B is a T9.5 V brown dwarf showing up from Earth? It is ludicrously bright.

First of all my sincerest apologies, It was simply so easy to get so frustrated and I that is related to other issue in my life.
My goodness I am just so thankful that I got a reply, this has made me incredibly determined to be more involved now so I will set myself some goals to use this forum and space engine more.
Yeh I did a video on the scenario scripting and was really happy, i think now its just simply performance so ultimately when my budget allows it even with SLI I think I will just bite the bullet and grab a graphics card, they are just so expensive to justify on my budget which  is virtually zero atm.
Which is why I understand Vladimir and his efforts on this software just on donations alone.
A bunch of friends were telling me to request a refund on steam but I just didn't listen to them in the end.
I really want to see this program take off (Already has) its fantastic.
As for this forum you just feel as though you talking to no body but I know thats not true.
Ultimately I am a newbie so i need to invest more.
Thank you very much Mosfet, you have made my day.
I will check your mods page.

Having some troubles with nebulas. For some reason they look very grainy. I'm running the game on high and I haven't noticed this with other people's screenshots.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

18 Jun 2019 03:43

Hey all.

Just bought my 0.990 on Steam. Couldn't say no to this due to the fact that as a developer, i know how hard sometimes it gets to make things works, and when they do we never know why and what we did lol.

I'm posting here, because I'm having this issue where, when I pick a star and then open the planet list, which displays above the bodies around the star, the panel blinks like crazy. This is happening on my Laptop (i7 8850HQ + GTX 1050).
I'm yet to fire Space Engine on my Desktop, which has a AMD R7 1700X and a GTX 1070 Ti.

Any of you facing this same issue?

Laptop: Intel Core i7 8850HQ + GTX 1050 + 16GB LPDDR4 2666

Yes this happens when you are in auto or manual exposure mode. Press V repeatedly until you are in HDR mode.
