are you sure its not hot enough to be emissive?
Tell me, Dr. Freeman, if you can. You have destroyed so much. What is it, exactly, that you have created? Can you name even one thing? I thought not.

The average temperature is below -100 °C. The day side is colder than the night side, but only the night side appears to be emissive. This only seems to happen if the eccentricity is above 0.9. In this situation, the night side always appears red, no matter the temperature. On the contrary, the day side does not emit any light when the planet is near periastron, when the temperature rises above 2000 ° (when it should).

It looks like it actually is emissive, as I set the TempMapMaxTemp to 0 and the red disappeared:

However, I don't understand why. It is way too cold. Also, the atmosphere appears to be partially pink, while it should be green. Why?

Hi, i am using SE with parallels on Mac m1,
the program is loading completely but then just crashes without warning.

Did anyone get it running on Mac m1?

SpaceEngine only works on Windows, according to their official website.

Like I said, i am using parallels (win 11 arm). Version 0.98 was running flawless.

Maybe you don't meet the requirements. Try this:
https://www.pcgamebenchmark.com/spaceengine-system-requirements
I didn't even know what parallels are.

No need to answer anymore, I fixed it.
1. Self-emission was the culprit. I explored multiple eccentric planets and found out that this issue was not restricted to my planet. It was applicable to all planets. This made it obvious that there was a problem with the game and not the planet. I don't know if self-emission is supposed to work like that, but light emission at such a low temperature (as well as light emission being bypassed on the day side when the planet is close to periastron, even when temperature are above 2000 degrees Celsius) is definitely something that you would encounter in real-life.
2. I changed the atmosphere model from "Jupiter" to "Chlorine" and discovered that the atmosphere was actually pink, explaining this phenomenon. So I changed it to green. What is weird, however, is that the day side atmosphere and the night side atmosphere have different colors (usually complementary colors). The "real" color is the night side color.

I encountered another issue with an eccentric gas giant. The day side looks green and the night side looks red. I have no idea why. It's cold and it should be dark on the night side.

It's because the exposure is high in the second picture.

Both pictures use the same settings. And how do I edit exposure?
I've managed to remove the red light, but now the planet doesn't glow at all, even when it is hot.

Also, when I turn the HDR mode on, the planet looks like it's using the dark texture I mentioned before. Which means that the texture are being exported in HDR mode. Is there a way to export in Auto mode or convert?

How can you be sure of that if you don't know how to use the exposure controls? If you're set on auto it will brighten the image if the Sun is blocked, showing the ambient lighting affecting the clouds.

Because the screenshots have been taken 5 seconds apart. I did not change the settings at all.

5 seconds is more than enough time for autoexposure to take effect. You don't know how to use the settings yourself, stop deflecting advice from people that know more than you.
