Re: Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

05 Nov 2022 05:30

Hi, I've been having a recurring issue since reinstalling version 0.990 a few days ago.

All of the planetary bodies, suns and moons have no textures and are completely black or only show the atmosphere. I've attached a screenshot of what the planets look like. This happens with all planets either procedural or in sol. I have tried deleting shader cache and reinstalling space engine several times, I have updated drivers and even reverted back to an older graphics driver just in case, nothing has resolved this issue.

Any help in resolving the issue would be appreciated. Thanks

This is a known bug and will be fixed in a future update.
That’s great to hear, thanks for the response! Best of luck with the next updates.

Hi, I am trying to export the texture of a planet, but I end up with a texture that doesn't match the color palette of that planet. I tried exporting the texture with every possible extension. Aside from the .jpg texture, all are blank. The .jpg one has the correct texture, but the wrong colors. What should I do?ImageImage

that looks like a bump map to me, what export settings did you use?
Tell me, Dr. Freeman, if you can. You have destroyed so much. What is it, exactly, that you have created? Can you name even one thing? I thought not.

wait im actually blind, there is colour there, its just very muted. what i think is going on here is that the actual texture of the planet is very dark, and SE's autoexposure is doing the job of brightening it up

No, it's not. I set the palette colors to brown myself.

Update: I tried exporting the texture of a procedural planet and the same thing happened. However, this time, its texture has become "undecided". It is partially the colored and partially colorless.

The planet was brown at the beginning. I even landed on it. However, after exporting the texture, the planet started turning gray.

strange, probably a graphics issue. if i remember correctly, i think i have experienced a similar thing, but on an older version and likely less powerful hardware than the hardware you use

Aside from that, I have 2 other graphics-related issues.
1. That planet uses a completely brown palette. Why do higher areas, such as mountains and crater ridges, appear white? How can I change that?
2. Why do some areas, which should be brown, appear greenish or reddish? When landing on the planet, the rocks appear greenish/reddish as well.

so definitely more powerful hardware than mine lol

anyway, these all look like graphical issues to me. this is 0.990, correct?
