COMMUNITY ADDON - Double/Multiple Asteroids fixes for SE

(229762) 2007 UK126 and its satellite both have been named, Gǃkúnǁ’hòmdímà and Gǃò’é ǃHú. Besides the fact that those names look horrid, some characters used in the names are not supported in Space Engine. The updated orbital parameters of the satellite is in http://www2.lowell.edu/users/grundy/tnb ... UK126.html

It's unfortunate, but my guess is that we'll have to wait for Unicode implementation (and maybe custom TTF or OTF fonts) in SpaceEngine to give the pair its proper names.
Thanks for the heads-up, I'll update latest additions soon.

Well, as of 31 December 2018, neither the Minor Planet Center nor JPL's Small-Body Database Browser have included 2007 UK126's horrendous name. At least not yet. We'll just have to see whether it will (somehow) be officially used or not.

I mean, is it even pronounceable? Because that's actually kinda important, considering that one of the criteria for a permanent minor-planet name is for it to be pronounceable...

Pronounceable (in some language).
Those clicking sounds are used in several African languages :) and many other languages have similar sounds, mostly as interjections. Oh, well...

Ah, okay. I already suspected that it's actually pronounceable for Africans. Still, it would a huge step for minor-planet-permanent-naming, because I don't think that any other named minor planets have those kinds of interjections like the "ǃ" and the "ǁ." I wonder how the MPC and JPL will respond to that. Maybe they'll exclude the interjections, like Gkún’hòmdímà and Gò’é Hú, and make that as the official name? Or maybe they'll just reject it completely...

Latest updates for SE 0980 are in OP, with binaries from previous posts and, in no particular order, (7002) Bronshten, (2070) Humason, (2337) Boubin, (7393) Luginbuhl, and others.
(31450) 1999 CU9 is now named (31450) Stevepreston.

Check the updated list in OP for a complete catalog of primary objects.

Okay, I don't know when this happened, but... surprise surprise, JPL and MPC actually accepted "G!kunll'homdima" as an official name for 2007 UK126...

However, notice that it's "G!kunll'homdima," not "Gǃkúnǁʼhòmdímà." Just as I partially suspected, they slightly altered the weird characters. Here is the list of all the changes I found:

The alveolar click (ǃ) is replaced with a normal exclamation mark (!).
The "u with acute" (ú) is replaced with a normal "u."
The lateral click (ǁ) is replaced with double-L (ll).
The "modifier letter apostrophe" (ʼ) is replaced with a normal apostrophe (').
The "o-grave" (ò) is replaced with a normal "o."
The "i-acute" (í) is replaced with a normal "i."
The "a-grave" (à) is replaced with a normal "a."

(Yes, some of them might look extremely similar, but trust me, they're different. Just put it in Google's searchbox to confirm the difference)

Now, which one should SpaceEngine use? The original version or JPL's & MPC's altered version?

I'm voting for the altered version, since it will make its name easier to be given in SpaceEngine. Furthermore, I distinctly remember that there were other asteroids with non-normal characters (mostly the acute and grave letters) that were altered by JPL, in which SpaceEngine also used the altered version.

What an awesome name. Sorry for the little off-topicness but if anyone was wondering the object's name apparently is pronunced like this. And its moon's name like this.

Whichever version SpaceEngine will be able to support :) When I tested it some time ago there were issues, for the name couldn't be found in Object search. I suppose the altered version will be more friendly for SE.
Yeah, there are several updates on old and new binaries according Johnston's Archive, I'll look at it soon.
FastFourierTransform, I spent half an hour at the time listening to those pronunciations and trying to replicate them, with... mixed success :)
