The greatest earthquake in Norway/Norwegian waters ever measured surely woke up the crew at Jan Mayen this morning. 18 people live there, about 120 km from the epicentre of the quake which measured M6.8. It probably felt like heavy, steady shaking for a minute or so for the people there, but the distance to the epicentre was large enough to avoid the violent shaking.
My seismometer in Oslo 1600 km away went off the charts (sensitive around 1/17 Hz). About 1.5 hours of data below.
My geophones sensitive around 4.5 Hz also picked up this quake loud and clear (low pass filter at 4.5 Hz in the plot below). About 15 minutes of data.
