Today I drove through Grand Teton national park and Yellowstone. My first time seeing either (except for the Tetons from a plane). It was breathtakingly beautiful and I'll have a lot of photos to share once I get back home tomorrow. :)

Sunshine mixed with thunder squalls can give some nice skies, but difficult to photographs because of the high dynamic range.  Here's a composite of three exposures, still saturating though, somewhere in the Czech republic last evening:

It would be very nice if I was good enough to create a 3D model of this picture:

A game set in a stanford torus is a dream I always had.

That's rather neat actually.  The sky is like a painting. :)

Probably the best explosion footage I have ever seen.  But I recommend MUTING your sound whenever it makes the siren noise before the explosion in real time.  Especially if you're using headphones.

If there are explosions, it must be good.

Movie trailer for upcoming Norwegian animation film.  I though the Russian Babushka design for the rocket was pretty good. :)

I've been watching a show on CBS (yeah I know, not exactly the pinnacle of television producers) called "Strange Angels" about the life and times of Jack Parsons, one of the fathers of Rocket Science:

I thought it was all right. If you like vintage-style space 'history' (it is a show, so artistic license was taken), give it a go.

Fun fact: Sometimes the sun sets twice in the same day.

After 4 months of daylight, Longyearbyen in Svalbard has two sunsets tomorrow.  The sun sets 00:31, rises 01:29, then sets for the second time that day 23:57.

Blame daylight saving.

I have seen that one, it's great.

I also watch all the HPC explosions and the ones they do with SOX.

The slow mo footage of the weather balloon with oxygen and acetylene is epic!

Essentially the closest you'll ever get to seeing the face of a star (barring being in the inside of a fusion generator). But yeah, those videos really convey the awesome power and frightening beauty behind fiery detonations.

I guess by now you realized that you should never let me near explosives... :D.

It was a horrid storm true, but I fail to see the difference in the first satellite images (aside from the perfuse clouds of course). I guess there is a bit of flooding?
