The weird part is that during the months of July and August, the two months of the year when the climate is pleasant in Scandinavia, Scandinavians eagerly go on vacation to southern Europe - during the two months of the year when the climate is unbearable in southern Europe.

Yes, I find Southern Europe far too humid for my taste.

I did some research into other locations that have high average temps.

I found a city called Reggane which averages around 104 degrees for July the entire climate record of the city

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggane#Climate

But Reggane's extremes aren't as extreme- a city called Ahwaz matches Death Valley in extremes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahvaz#Climate

It's also the most air polluted city

Guys here's a thing!

Freddy Mercury was born on the 5th of September 1946.

NASA launched Voyager 1 on the 5th of September 1977.

So when it was Freddie's 31st birthday, Voyager 1 was launched, to explore the gas giants and become the very first probe to enter Interstellar space.

Wow

LOL I'd stick with unsolicited emails. But I see also in that day in 2000, it's the start of Geocaching. I did a couple of hunts in happier times, it was fun. Now when they see you moving around some place, they think you're a terrorist placing some bomb.

On my birthday, The Raven was published.  Greeeaaaaaat.

Also, it's the same birthday as Joseph Kruskal, who was a mathematician.  Which made me think of Kruskal–Szekeres coordinates. That would have been neat, but then I realized that was Martin Kruskal, who was Joseph's brother.

It turns out that Joseph discovered that the set of finite trees over a well-quasi-ordered set of labels is itself well-quasi-ordered under homeomorphic embedding.

It seems that those who know about Reggane since young are French people. I mean come on, how can you "find" it if it's popular? Do you know what happened in near Reggane?

No meteors visible here through the clouds and rain, but that's okay because it has been more than 50 days since our last measurable rain.  Plus it's blowing all the smoke out of here. :)

Mostly bad weather during the night before the 13th, but good before the 14th, and I got only a few nice Perseids on camera.  I looked at the sky for about 20 minutes around 22:30 last night, saw none, but the sky was still pretty bright at that time, only the brightest stars visible.

Hello! :) not sure if some of you astronomers or star gazers know about this, but there's a website I found that is a sky map. and its REALLY good! like google earth but space and a lot better! its high resolution, has different modes like inferred, ultraviolet, ect. and its very easy to control and has a lot of info of stars and such! I think this website is very good for those who are into astronomy or stars or just like to look at that stuff :D The link I have set is Mode DSS2 and because of that the screen will be black at first. just move around a little by using the two up and down arrows for a little and the screen should come back on. :D
Enjoy!
I don't really come on here anymore, I used to! a lot. but now Its kind of just for news and stuff. I don't talk anymore :/

I don't know what's going on in the index page but a lot of people who do know seem to be loving it.

Yeah, and I'm against all forms of nuclear weapons (including the bombs dropped on Japan) but I only know about Reggane because I collect data on the coldest and hottest places in the world and the temperature averages of Reggane really stick out.
