Fortunately, the right weather isn't such a binary thing this time for success, more a gradually limiting thing on what can be done. I was hoping to get all through a melt tunnel through the glacier, usually a 1.5 hour hike from town each way, but we'll have to see what's possible. It's certainly a change from California a couple of days ago.
ADDED: Upon arrival we discover that there's 15-20 cm of newly fallen light snow on the ground and it snows pretty densely, which is rare here. All of that snow will be swept off the mountain plateaus by the wind tomorrow and it's too risky to be near steep slopes due to the avalanche risk. So new plans. Blizzard hike in the wide valley instead. As we're settling for the night, the wind is picking up and it's sometimes difficult to see across the street.
