Suggestions about new website

The new site has been moved on the domain http://spaceengine.org (updating will take a while...)
The new forum is still at http://forum.spaceengine.org (no change needed).
The old English site and forum are stayed on the http://en.spaceengine.org (no change).
The old Russian site and forum has been moved to http://ru.spaceengine.org - this mean what some links and images could be broken. Please report if you see any issues on the old forum.

I love the new forum, it looks gorgeous. Not a huge fan of circle avatars but that's just my opinion.

General suggestions about the Forum/Site

What do you think about the emoticons? I don't... really like them... even if I'm using them and I'll probably keep doing it. But it might be just me, I don't know!

Quick question, but how long will it be before the new site appears as the first search result, in place of the old website?

Regarding Google, as far as I understand that search engine workings (nobody really does, that's why there are SEO experts :D), it will take short notice to Googlebots to see a lively website/forum at the new address, a couple of weeks maybe?, since they are linked one another on the main page. Both websites will coexist somehow in search, until the old forum will be acknowledged as no more active (that is, no more new posts). From that point onward, the new website will prevail on search results, unless you're searching for old arguments/posts.
Other search engines use more or less the same policy. The more active and updated is a website, the better is the positioning in searches.

I don't like them either. I've done some hunting around for a better emoticon set and found one that might be good. It would also be possible to use the ones from the old forum :) I'll talk to SpaceEngineer and/or qotop about it in the near future. Busy with other things at the moment.

I have noticed at least 3 issues myself on Firefox for Android. First, the background image loads fine in Firefox, but funky in Chrome for Android.

In Firefox, the forum interface is slow and tends to completely disappear.

Also, the quick reply box turns white when selected, in Chrome, and it makes it impossible to read what Im typing. The full reply page works fine though. When adding attachments, the Place Inline button doesn't work on mobile browsers.

Do you miss a reputation-awards system?  :)
Sometimes I feel like I want to increase the "reputation" of someone but I just can't.

I agree with Salvo; a reputation system or otherwise an ability to "like" and/or "dislike" posts would be useful, especially if we agree with someone and don't know what else to say other than a simple "I agree". :)

For some reason, I can't post any new topics. Am I on some sort- of soft ban, or have I yet to find a way of how to create a new topic?

If you don't have this button or it's un-clickable it's probably because the rules are similar to those of the old forum: You can't create new threads until you post at least 10 posts in other threads.

This is to prevent spam, and, I gotta be honest, it worked just fine so far. The only trouble is making users know this rule, I have no idea if it's written somewhere in the registration form, I really can't remember...
