I need Ray Tracing and a release date. Love Space Engine btw.
If you give Vladimir a cookie, we might have the update by 2030.
Can I have an order of uhhh randomly generated city lights?

Inaccurate, it will release at the same time as Half-Life 3.
I knew I was an idiot in the past, I have toned down since then.

Sorry for this comment I am about to make, I just got back into space engine and I see 0.990 is going to come out. I know it will be on steam, but will it cost any money and if so, how much?

It is going to cost money, but there is no word on how much yet, that'll come once the game passes the Steam Team's review.

So the debugging of the program is done and we just need to wait for the review now?  How long do those take?  Depending on that we could have the new SE by next week!

No. Debugging it is not yet done. No one said that.

Ah sorry, I thought he was implying that the game was being reviewed already.

Also, has the price been set at $20 or was that just a recommendation?

Someone refresh my memory: Why can't cateloged nebulae be ray-marched? Is it due to their unknown dimensions or some coding error? I tried to go through the dev posts, but I couldn't find any mention of this aside from the most recent post, and I don't recall anything being said about them in that regard in Harbinger's streams.

Matching photographic references of nebulae like M42 or Horsehead to what is essentially a bunch of algorithms defining some shapes is not an easy task right now. For that, I guess, we could use a specific nebulae editor with a set of shapes that can be tweaked to match a real nebula. It doesn't exist yet.

The raymarched nebulae are just defined by assigning values to variables in equations. The existing algorithms might not even be able to produce accurate structures for many real nebulae, regardless of the values you input. Even if it is possible, there's no practical way to figure out how to configure them to produce the desired shapes. When the program comes out, if you want to try it yourself, be my guest.

Hi! for some reasons, Im not able to create a post, so i'll ask it here. Am I the only one using SpaceEngine for role play games?

I've also got a question about the 0.990. Will it be possible to have something like two ''profiles'' with a single steam account? or an option to reset all modifications on planets made by the user?

No, you are not the only one - and there is no need to make a whole new thread to express this dedication - we have one here: Using SE for a D&D Campaign? If you aren't playing Spelljammer-esque Dungeons and Dragons, then that thread should still serve.

I have GM'd and played the old '80s Star Trek RPG, the Western Games Star Wars RPGs and Fantasy Flight's Warhammer 40k RPG series all with SE for mapping and visualizations. More recently, I am playing through a campaign with the new Dragonstar game using SE 0980 for navigational purposes and 'random' encounters.  Sometimes I think it's sort of lazy just to let the program come up with the solar-systems and such, but it is still great fun :).

Just install the game twice, on separate hard-drives. I have done this with other Steam games that I modified heavily and wanted to keep apart from the base game. It IS a lot of work just for one game though.

I just played google earth in VR for the first time, it would be awesome to see that level of detail some day in Space Engine.

One question regarding 0.990: will there be any changes to how the music and context-file works compared to previous versions?

I've just started to build my own library of sounds and sfx for all the classes and before I continue with that I just wanna make sure it's not a waste of time due to major changes.

If context.cfg files on latest builds are of any indication about the workings on the contextual music feature in 0990, there are no major changes. Few new classes for us to play with, allowing music customization of specific GUI menus.
