Please understand that this is not about secrecy, this is just about time management, as well as estimation. I don't think you realise but the reason the rule for not asking about release date exists is simply because it is quite rude to do so. We don't mind if people are just asking out of curiosity and haven't seen the rules, but those who know the rules and make comments and insinuations like this come across as very rude. Vladimir isn't involved in any conspiracies. He's estimating, and is very busy and does his best on all, and you really should just be grateful for that, not annoyed at him in any way. Also, decisions made about the game are not up for question and debate, and this is absolutely fine, most game companies do that. You are welcome to make suggestions but please do so politely and do not get angry if they are not taken on board.
I think you're confused.
For me to bother is not asking a launch date for a product that you have been advertising for months.
It looks like three months ago I commented in this same thread on the issue of release and I agreed with not giving an exact date but an estimate. I do not usually come here much in fact you can count on your fingers the times I speak in this forum. So do not tag me.
Maybe the problem is not in itself people ask (which is right) but yes in that they have said launch things in steam too early.
I do not want you to come to me saying that games have more or less time in development that I know.
Only that this type of questions are easily solvable saying a simple estimation date or considering put 0.9.9 as early access in steam.
