^ sort of related question. Has 0.990 had Vega and Polaris optimizations?

Are the rings generated pseudo-randomly or is there a check to whether there exists valid orbits around a planet for rings to form, and they do.
Of course!
And do the new equatorial ridges on ringlets happen 100% of the time or is it also pseudo-random? Or a different mechanism?
Pseudo-random.
Will Space Engine support crossfire in the next version?
No. Otherwhise it would be mentioned in the blog already.
^ sort of related question. Has 0.990 had Vega and Polaris optimizations?
SE uses stock OpenGL, no special hardware optimizations.

Hi!
Quick question. How difficult would it be to make galaxies volumetric the same way the nebulæ are? Is that something that we could expect in a close future?

I know, I'm just saying that if we had shown people 25 years ago what modern engines can do now, they might have believed that raytracing was involved, since it looks so amazing.

ADDED: But actually, I do wonder if game engines of the future will actually switch to raytracing.
The new nvidia gpus support ray tracing though they seem to have a few issues.

Is it too soon to ask if this might come to the Epic Store Front too?

I doubt it, simply because the Epic store front is too new.

The year 2018 ends and we still don't know anything about space engine 0.9.

First of all, I don't intend to be heavy with the subject but it was said that I would go out this year by steam.
Does it cost so much to say an expected date? Type at the end of March 2019 or at Christmas 2030...
I think that a simple date would put an end to uncertainty and this kind of questions.

Greetings

Most likely a simple date cannot be given due to the amount of work still needed.
A reminder:
Release is expected this year on Steam. I can't give the exact date, because developing the app is not like building a road. Then you build a road, you may measure your average speed, say 1 mile per day, then divide the remaining distance onto this speed and obtain number of days left. Developing app is not a linear process, so no extrapolation can be used. I don't know how much time it will take for, say, implementing procedural generation of raymarched nebulae, which new problems will arise, and how much time it will take to solve them.

You're very wise to make those UX changes before releasing it to Steam. That'll make the difference! I'll write my positive review as soon as it is released!

I know it is being released on Steam but will it be released on the website at the same time? I like downloading things from here.

Wow this is a super advanced new version you have created I am very excited for this!

Two suggestions for a later release, if I may, is there any way to include an H-R chart of all stars in a field of view, so if I want to find a star of a particular type or luminosity, I can just click on its representative pixel dot in the H-R chart and it will be highlighted in the FOV or vice versa?  That would be the easiest way to find the most luminous stars in an FOV or stars with unusual characteristics (white dwarfs, neutron stars, etc.)

The other suggestion was that I see you are including a separate area for real exoplanets, which is great.  Will the program include all 3,840 exoplanets discovered as of November 1?  And is there any way to do regular monthly updates of exoplanets which will run on program start up and automatically update with new exoplanets that have been discovered and assign them a type, terrain and size automatically based on the data we have on them?

Thanks for all your tireless work!  PS I have the same 1060 6 GB graphics card but am still limited to 1080P resolutions.

I use Space Engine in field where no Internet connection is possible.
If i have to run Steam online, to use SE it is useless for me.
I hope i can download SE 09.09.09 like the Edition 0.9.8 from your Website.

Thanks for your work on this beautifull Space Simulation :D

The new update won't be released on the website if I am correct. This has been said by the developer himself.

While the new update will be on steam (which you can use offline by the way, just letting you know) you will be able to download all previous updates here if I am not mistaken.

Hey! Is it possible to add game-pad key combinations in the future versions of SpaceEngine?
For example: Left + A, or Right Trigger + Y, Left Trigger + Right Trigger and so on.

Atmospheric and Stellar flights in SpaceEngine are incredibly enjoyable with a game-pad. With key combinations it will be easier to change HUD from orbital to planetary, manipulate time, select different autopilot modes and so on.

Also the ability to move mouse cursor with  Left or Right joystick (for example in the star browser, journal, universe map) will be incredibly useful.

I know that it probably will take some time to be implemented but, imho, this feature is worth spending time on.
