Help for creating a star system "Netherlands"

07 Aug 2017 05:42

I want to create a story involving dragons living on an Earth like planets orbiting around a black hole. This black hole has an accretion disc that is 12022000 kilometers in radius (approximation). But the idea is that the planet orbits close to the edge of it, making it between 6 and 5 million kilometers from the center of the Black Hole.

The planet is slightly less massive than earth but it is still a relatively Earth sized planet (maybe 0.98 Earth radius) but it doesn't have any moon (I might add one if necessary).

Now the thing is that I built this system in Space Engine to simulate this, I found a black hole in the Milky Way galaxy with some planets so I modified it. Though I have some questions:

-I mainly use the planet editor so does the "Update" button actually save the changes, meaning that if I leave and come back then it will show the changes I did, or will it revert back to its normal status (the black hole that I found is actually 54 km wide but I want to make it much MUCH bigger). If it doesn't change then how do I modify this specific black hole and have it's modification stay in the game (I read the "creating a star" guide on the official website but I didn't understand really). For the planet I'll take care of it myself.

-How do I change the name of the black hole (from RS bla bla bla to "Netherlands")?

-I can still change the parameters of the black hole so does it need to be actually bigger than the size I mentioned or is it good enough?

-If I ever want to make it as an addon that I can share with the community, then how do I make a zip file for this?

You can not permanently modify a procedural system.
You can export the system or individual objects to use in your own scripts.

You can assign names to objects. They are stored in the 'user-eng-db.cfg'. Or in the file that corresponds to your user language.
scr00042.jpg
scr00043.jpg
If you want to make an addon, it must have this folder structure:
catalogs
              planets
              stars
Of this you can make a '.zip' archive and rename it to '.pak'. This '.pak' archive then belongs into the 'addons' folder.

In the 'config' folder. The file may not already exist if you have not entered any information about a star in the Wiki window.

If you set a checkmark for 'Real object', the information is stored in the 'eng-db.cfg' file. Or the file corresponding to your language. This file is located in 'data\locale'.

At 6 million km, the black hole must be less than 1200 solar masses to not destroy the planet by the Roche Limit.  At 5 million kilometers it must be less than 720 solar masses.

where a is the orbital distance, Mp is the planet's mass, and Rp is the planet's radius.

Added:  And if adding a moon, the black hole will need to be smaller, so that the moon can orbit inside the Hill Sphere but outside the Roche Limit of the planet.  In this case the black hole's mass must be less than 250 solar masses if the planet is at 6 million km, or 150 solar masses at 5 million km.

where [tex]\rho_m[/tex] and [tex]\rho_p[/tex] are the densities of the moon and planet.

Help for creating a star system "Netherlands"

So if I understand.

First I name the black hole (done) and then I must write a script that edits the already existing object? Or I just modify it IN Space Engine then export the script. After that do I put it in addon? Or somewhere else?

Victorbrine Orionis,
modify it in SpaceEngine and export the script.

Then you need a script with a 'StarBarycenter'.

Something like this:
// Put this in 'addons\catalogs\stars'

StarBarycenter "Netherlands system"
{
    RA      10 30 30.50
    Dec     -50 50 15.90
    Dist    100.00
}
This script belongs in "addons\catalogs\stars'.

Then you have to change the parameter for 'ParentBody' accordingly.
Like this:
Star    "Netherlands"
{
    ParentBody     "Netherlands system"
    Class           "X"
    Luminosity      0
    MassSol         7.12548
    RadSol          3.02347e-005
    Teff            0

    Age             4.73848

    InertiaMoment   0

    RotationPeriod  6.07319e-005
    Obliquity       31.435
    EqAscendNode    76.6188

    AlbedoBond      0.3
    AlbedoGeom      0.36
    Brightness      2
    Color          (0.000 0.000 0.000)

    NoClouds        true
    NoOcean         true
    NoLava          true
    NoAtmosphere    true
    NoAurora        true
    NoRings         true

    AccretionDisk
    {
        InnerRadius     1.54732e-007
        OuterRadius     7.14684e-006
        AccretionRate   3.4661e-036
        Temperature     5455.71
        Density         495.964
        Luminosity      2.29524e-007
        TwistMagn       50
        Brightness      1
    }

    NoCorona        true
    NoCometTail     true

    Orbit
    {
        RefPlane        "Static"
        SemiMajorAxis   0
        Period          0
        Eccentricity    0
        Inclination     31.435
        AscendingNode   76.6188
        ArgOfPericenter 0
        MeanAnomaly     0
    }
}
The script belongs in 'addons\catalogs\planets'.
[hr]
The renaming of the black hole in the 'Wiki' is not necessary. When exporting, the star will get the original 'RS' number anyway.
When you export the script, it is stored in the 'export' directory.

Help for creating a star system "Netherlands"

Victorbrine Orionis ,
modifiez-le dans SpaceEngine et exportez le script.

Ensuite, vous avez besoin d'un script avec un ' StarBarycenter '.

Quelque chose comme ça:
Code: Sélectionner tout
// Put this in 'addons\catalogs\stars'

StarBarycenter "Netherlands system"
{
    RA      10 30 30.50
    Dec     -50 50 15.90
    Dist    100.00
}

Ce script appartient à " addons \ catalogs \ stars ".

Ensuite, vous devez modifier le paramètre ' ParentBody ' en conséquence.
Comme ceci:
Code: Sélectionner tout
Star    "Netherlands"
{
    ParentBody     "Netherlands system"
    Class           "X"
    Luminosity      0
    MassSol         7.12548
    RadSol          3.02347e-005
    Teff            0

    Age             4.73848

    InertiaMoment   0

    RotationPeriod  6.07319e-005
    Obliquity       31.435
    EqAscendNode    76.6188

    AlbedoBond      0.3
    AlbedoGeom      0.36
    Brightness      2
    Color          (0.000 0.000 0.000)

    NoClouds        true
    NoOcean         true
    NoLava          true
    NoAtmosphere    true
    NoAurora        true
    NoRings         true

    AccretionDisk
    {
        InnerRadius     1.54732e-007
        OuterRadius     7.14684e-006
        AccretionRate   3.4661e-036
        Temperature     5455.71
        Density         495.964
        Luminosity      2.29524e-007
        TwistMagn       50
        Brightness      1
    }

    NoCorona        true
    NoCometTail     true

    Orbit
    {
        RefPlane        "Static"
        SemiMajorAxis   0
        Period          0
        Eccentricity    0
        Inclination     31.435
        AscendingNode   76.6188
        ArgOfPericenter 0
        MeanAnomaly     0
    }
}

Le script appartient à ' addons \ catalogs \ planets '.

Okay.
Though what does "RA", "Dec" and "Dist" mean? (Well Dist probably distance but from what?)

Though what does "RA", "Dec" and "Dist" mean?
This is the position of the star in space. RA = Right ascension, Dec = Declination, Dist =Distance.
The values for RA and Dec are degrees, minutes, seconds. The distance is given in Parsec.

If you want to know more, look here:

So I can completely replace the old RS black hole with Netherlands by putting the same location?
