General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Is better ocean topography planned? Oceans are rather flat. As a result, it causes some weirdness. I actually figured out a way to port space engine worlds into minecraft for instance, but the oceans end up too flat.
Hey there, do you know how to port a planet into minecraft?
Thank you :)

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

Hello,

I haven't tried out SE just yet (because I don't have a PC) but I guess the feature I am going to suggest is not in the software yet.
(If you don't have a PC then why are you suggesting anything, one might ask; I do have a Mac, so sooner or later I want to use SE, either via bootcamp or natively on the Mac once the port is finished.)

I see my use of SE in making videos for the music I am making. I have always wanted to somehow be able to create fly-bys of exoplanetary landscapes. Using programs like Vue or Terragen was too complex for me. A few days ago I discovered Space Engine, and I was very excited to see that not only it simulates the actual entire (!) universe, it also lets you land on planet surfaces!

My suggestion is to add an offline rendering mode. I would like to be able to create videos in full quality without having to buy an expensive gaming-class PC. I imagine that I could mark waypoints as I run SE normally, in a lower gfx setting. When the path is finished, I start offline rendering mode. In this mode, SE follows the path and renders each frame at full quality, saving it to a video file. This may well take many hours or even days. It's basically like a drone where you first fly the path manually, creating waypoints as you go, and then let the drone re-fly that path to take a smooth video.
Optionally there could be a time factor that allows for slower movement (increasing the video duration).

To create video clips it is not necessary to maintain a good realtime frame rate so I thought this "drone path mode" with subsequent offline rendering could present a solution to video makers without a large budget. It would also open the door to create 4K (and by extension, 8K or 16K in the future) videos in excellent quality.

High-quality recording of pre-made flight paths is already in the next version, I think.

I don't know if Space Engine does this, but the spatial distribution of stars in the galaxy could be arranged based on our mathematical models of mass distribution and other stuff, so stars populations and their neighborhoods are realistic. Life probability according to the amount of radiation on the region should be a thing, a planet wouldn't sustain life if it was at the center or close to a Wolf-Rayet star.

I wish there was an overlay that displayed the distance to whatever is below the cursor. I love this feature in Outerra. It helps establish a sense of scale, which I think SE could benefit greatly from.

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

In Space flight mode (2), mouse 1 needs to be held down to hide the cursor and steer the camera.

I suggest an option to toggle this on or off with mouse 1.

I plan a long project in SE and holding mouse 1 down for half an hour at a time is giving me RSI, my
hand hurts all the time from it. Having an option to toggle it, or not would be a godsend.

Thanks Vova.

you could use a gamepad and map the buttons as you like...

You can't map the the camera steer control (mouse 1) It's default and unchangeable

For some unfathomable reason that account simply translates random english posts into french, like other similarly named, throughout the net since at least 2013. :?:

Well, now I am confused.
