General suggestions for SpaceEngine

I wouldn't mind having 3D models overlayed onto the scene such as a transparent sphere representing the Oort cloud and a circle showing how far radio signals have gone since they were first broadcast. Currently in SE it can be difficult to tell how fast you're going and how massive a scene is due to lack of objects to compare scales.

My idea is to be able to spawn in 3D models, including stuff like Sol's heliosphere, the M87 black hole, IC 1101, etc. near something like the Solar System and be able to use a simple GUI to move the objects around, set transparency and rotate. It'd be awesome to be able to place the m87 black hole on top of the solar system and see how massive it is, then start moving your camera through interstellar space to get a feel for how far away objects are.

I don't expect this stuff to happen in 0.990 but it'd be amazing to see this happen at some point.

Looks like an cool idea, I have had moments like that when I wanted to compare stars or other large objects,

I don't want to complicate Vladimir's job but it actually sound like a great idea! It could be very powerfull for educational purposes. Maybe some very basic Geogebra features like 1) the ability to create straight lines and segments between two stars 2) the ability to create spheres given a central star and a radius. That would be enought to make many many interesting tutorials and scripts. Immagine reproducing the pulsar map of the Voyager's Golden Record in 3D space, or looking for the sterilization radius of a supernova by using a semitransparent sphere centered on it, or using a pair of straight lines to see how minuscule deviations generate vast differences at large distances so to grasp more about perspective in the cosmic scale (for example, to show why Andromeda looks bigger than the Moon from Earth), etc...

I second this idea.

How about creating line segments between two objects to measure the distance between them in seconds of arc?  It's useful for us binoviewers to see if we can get them in the same field of view.

How about some sort of Lat-Long grid system to superimpose on a planet's surface, so we could judge the sizes and locations
of features on a planet's surface?

I don't expect this stuff to happen in 0.990 but it'd be amazing to see this happen at some point.
1. Surrounded by a transparent sphere outside the Oort cloud, this may be achieved in the SE. However, the radio signal broadcast route is displayed, I think it is superfluous in the SE, and it is impossible to implement this function in the SE. The space in the space inside the SE is so large that it cannot be accurately positioned.
2. If you are doing celestial comparisons, such as the comparison of black holes and stars, you can write scripts in SE and put them on similar tracks for comparison. This function sometimes doesn't make much sense, because some black holes are very large. Compared to stars, the stars are very small and become a bright spot.

I would love to see compass points on planet surfaces for navigational purposes!

I would like a mode to have different vision or filter like thermal, luminosity, big or small...

What exactly do you mean by "luminosity" vision and "big/small" vision? You can currently control many settings related to magnitude of the objects and brightness sensitivity of the camera. You can go anywhere in the universe and see things from 10-2 meter size objects (pebbles in some textures, for example) to 1026 meter structures in the universe. Do you mean microscopic view?

What would be really cool (but maybe hard to code) would be being able to see different biomes and ecosystems on the planet. Also, if the planet has life, it would be nice to actually see the animals (or maybe just the plants) when you land on the planet. It would also be nice to see the ground have different types, like sand, dirt, grass, or stone, instead of always being stone. All of these suggestions would make SpaceEngine more realistic and improve the experience overall.

The 0.990 terrestrial planet seems to be like this, it has improved a lot compared to 0.980, and the details are also very good.
