Proxima Centauri System

09 May 2017 01:05

In Space Engine the Proxima Centauri system is randomly generated, and in the e patch, it only has a Gas giant. This addon removes the randomly generated planets aswell as e patch's gas giant, and replaces them with the two planets that we know of in the system right now: Proxima b, and unconfirmed Proxima c.
Main Addon features:
1. Automatically Removes all Randomly Generated Planets,
2. Adds the one planet that is confirmed: Proxima b (as Cold Terra),
3. Adds the unconfirmed planet: Proxima c (as Frozen Gas Giant),
Extra:
Proxima c is loosly based on e patch's Gas Giant.
Planets are very dark with real planet brightness on.
There are future plans to add the unconfirmed "Warm asteroid belt" and the "Cold asteroid belt".

The planet looks like Earth with a virus.

Is the plant not tidaly locked because it's not confirmed yet?

It probably is.

Just saw this addon and its very very out of touch with the real Proxima Centauri b. First of all, its a temperate titan and its not tidally locked. The orbit parameters are fairly correct, but the type of world and rotation period are incorrect.

If anything, Proxima B is a mars-like desert or a dry terra, with vast green colored auroras because of Proxima's solar activity.

I think you used the default Titan with life proxima had and changed its orbit

Yep I can agree on that. I have a better file that I am working on.

Actually Proxima b could not be tidally-licked, because of high eccentricity of its orbit. It is likely captured in a 3:2 or 5:3 resonance, as Mercury does (Mercury would be tidally locked it it were have circular orbit). Next version of SE considers eccentricity while generating rotational parameters for procedural planets (and for catalog planets which hasn't them in script).

I'm surprised to hear that Proxima b may not be tidally locked after all. That must increase its habitability somewhat.

Let me know where I can get it from, as I have the old Prox Cen B

Just updated the mod, it is all in a .pak file now, and adds Proxima Cen c.
Does anyone know how to remove the gas giant?
Remove	"Proxima Cen b/ALF Centauri C b"
{
	ParentBody     "Proxima"
	Class       "Gas Giant"
}
^ The code above doesn't seem to work.
