I don't know how SpaceEngine runs on a 6000 series card but, starting from the rx6600, the amd graphics cards are listed as very reccomended to run SpaceEngine in the Can My PC run SpaceEngine topic.
Mabye there's more info there.
SubTerras are the best!
My specs: Intel Core i7-12700H, Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 (laptop), Ram 16GB DDR5 (2x8), 1TB SSD

Yes, that was with a higher OC though I don't plan to run the card to such a degree given the issues with the power connector others are having with higher power draw.

i dont blame you lol, these new cards are so power-hungry and pump out so much heat that it isnt really a good idea to overclock them that high anymore, especially given that you purchased the air-cooled model. honestly i wouldnt be surprised if, in the future, water-cooled GPUs become normal, or perhaps even a necessity

I did try pushing a much higher OC and thermals were all fine and I scored higher

Still not going to keep it like this, went back to default profile.

AMD has done amazing things, did you know the new 7950x CPU can run on air cooling and not even a great air cooler?  There was a review about this, that the CPU temps are kept under the warning threshold even on stock air cooling!

I have no intention of ever putting water anywhere near my computer!

trying to make their products as efficient and powerful as possible seems to be AMD's thing

I've heard that they are decent for light gaming from some of my friends. But I won't advise to get one of them to play SE.

Recently, I upgraded my PC and got the INNO3D GEFORCE RTX 4070 TI ICHILL X3 12GB, and SE runs perfectly - smooth, high frame rates and stunning visuals all around.

I picked it up for 800£ from Fierce PC and got a sweet 20% discount deal on DontPayFull. If you are thinking of upgrading your PC, search for discount coupons and deals there.

Haven't posted in a long time. Thought I check the forum and the news updates. Heard there is migration to Vulkan in the works which is great!

My main PC is dying,  faulty bios chip or possible bad ram slot contacts, but I'm erring on the side of a bad bios since the issues only happen if the PC has been turned off at the mains and weird things like the system clock lands on random times, but otherwise always the correct date.  The ram slot issue could be a ram training problem once the mains are cut and the training parameters are lost somehow. The random boot sector issues also only happens when these other problems occur on power up after the mains were off.  All fine if I leave the mains on despite always shutting down the PC.

I was going to replace the board, but can't find any used or new AM3+ boards anywhere under 300 AUD, which is lubricious money for such a dated and overall "bad generation" platform.

I could whip together a budget min max type of setup on the AM4 platform since the lower end  X3D CPUs are sooo cheap, ram and boards too are very budget friendly, almost half the cost for a similar level AM5 or Intel platform, at least here in Aus where they are being price gouged.

However, GPUs are still mining boom priced here and nothing had decent vram at an affordable price for a long time that had 3 gen prior performance.  The 7600XT came along, not so compelling from what I have read and watched reviews on, however they are reasonably priced here at about $500 AUD with 16GB and far ahead of AMDs own budget and especially nvidias terrible low/mid end, the next models up with less vram are around $900-1000 AUD.

nvidia options for the specs compelling for me have been out of my price range since Pascal, they have the Aussie "nvidia tax" on them as people like to say.

Anyway, anyone used something like the 7600XT on SE?  I know that AMD aren't that great with openGL, but they are excellent with Vulkan. So by the time I can actually put the money together for a new desktop, SE may be updated, I'm talking more than a year from now if I ever do replace my *** desktop.
