BlackEyes - Twin Hole System

11 Jan 2017 06:03

This is something I experimented with. I bet it has been done before but I just loved the idea of a twinhole system with accretion discs.
It is called BlackEyes because you know... Two black spheres that can look like eyes somehow...

First off, yes I know it is a total unrealistic system. Planets this close would first off, be ripped apart by tidal forces by being so close. And secondly, the gravitational waves would also cause some horrifying tidal forces stretching the planets continuously. But it stil looks awesome! I'm stil working on this system. Considering having it closer to the center of the galaxy since they are huge.

I will try to make more images as I work further and add more kinds of planets to orbit the black holes...

Might upload the current version when I get home. But the black hole effect is kind of buggy. When you rotate you can see sudden transitions on the effect. Hard to explain, but I hope they are working on a way to properly allow black holes to shade near each other.

Yea I know about the effect weirdness, I made a system where a neuron star, wormhole and a black hole were next to each other, guess how trippy that was.

Zefnoly, cool! I really love the thing on the first picture where the nearest black hole makes the accretion disk from the farthest away black hole look curved ;)
Space is too big to understand, so do not try to understand.

Wow, that really does look cool. :)

Another consequence of such a system is that the two black holes would spiral closer together and merge fairly quickly.  And the planet orbits would be pretty nuts.  Also, you would be able to see a lensed image of each black hole next to the other black hole (and actually an infinite nested set of such images, sort of like being in a hall of mirrors).

A very simple tutorial on how to create a solar system you can find here.

(TBH there was never a mention of there ever being a download available.)
