how can I make .pak files? I know you could simply rename a .zip file, but my computer sucks and it wont work that way for me...

Has any one made city night light textures, or is it possible?
I saw this picture and thought it would be cool to do some thing similar.
Of course it is possible, but you need to have some basic skills at Photoshop/Gimp and you need a lot of patience to place the lights exactly where you want them to be on your planet.
If you want you can start from earth's and took inspiration from it.
The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

CPU: Intel Core i7 14700KF GPU: NVidia RTX 4070
RAM: 32 GBs

I have Gimp, but I'm not sure where the planet textures are. So
data, textures, planets (Planets Tex09890.pak) right?
what would be a program that opens a .pak file?
Sorry guys I'm new to this stuff.

A .pak file is only a renamed .zip file. If you rename a copy of the file in .zip, you can open it with any program that can open .zip files. Among other things also with Windows Explorer.

I changed the file into a .sc, but have a blue hypergiant star called "no name" in the milky way, it dissapeared when I deleted the code. what's going on?

If you simply copied the script from the manual, you will have wrong quotes around the name of your star !
For example, you have:
Star    Mono
but must have:
Star    "Mono"
(Normally the character above the '2' on the keyboard.)

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is not possible but thought I might ask anyways, but can you create mods (3D models more preciously for ships) in something like Blender and import that into SE? Or will it only work as a pak file where everything is still based on pics?

Hello, can someone please send me a link where I can find high quality textures of Earth? I tried going to this link: https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/BlueMarble/ but I can´t find anything...

And another question, what do you recommend me when I make bump maps?, they always look bad...
