What kind of lens and filter and exposure time did you use?
Canon EOS 600D
Tamron 200-500mm lens @ 500mm
Marumi 100k neutral density filter
1/1600 sec, f/8.0, ISO 100
Ryzen 7 3700X, 64 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, RTX 3090 24 GB VRAM

You are a lucky astronomer - whenever I go out, all I see is pure white from the wildfire smoke. Its like a scene of of The Mist :(

It's a setup of four cameras, one will be replaced with a better one, and if my calculations are correct, the cameras will then combined cover the entire sky, effectively giving a 10 megapixel view of the sky recording up to 30 fps.  15 fps, which was the setting that night, seems to be a good compromise, though.
