Is this forum pretty much almost dead?

Pretty much yes. And long ago.

Seems so, unfortunately.  I miss the discussions here.

Yeah like almost every forum except development ones.
It doesn't mean the community is dead but it's just not interacting anymore or moved to other platforms (like Reddit).
Hopefully with the next release some new people will discover the software
