G!kún||'homdima is named after a mythic character from the Ju’hoansi people of Namibia, in southwest Africa. The character itself, is a beautiful young girl who is often depicted as an aardvark, python, or elephant. This name stems from a click language, which is challenging for Western tongues to pronounce. As a result, the trans-neptunian object is commonly referred to as G!kún to simplify.
