Don't we have a Flight School thread for this? This is the Image Dump thread!I go straight from warp drive to landing to flying around lol-- maybe I am in orbit and don't know it? I don't use the orb tab in the ship menu though....I use the Hor tab with those controls. This ship has been staying level for days, perhaps I'm in orbit under 20km altitude? It's one of ettore-bilbo's ships, originally made for SE .9.8.0, but still seem to work in .9.9.0. (The one pictured may have been slightly modified by me.) It is listed as being 140m in length. You can find it and many others in his thread here — https://forum.spaceengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=65.
What's the size of that ship (and what's it called-- and not on Steam I assume?) and how low can it go? Do you think I should stick with the Argon Light Fighter ship since 1) it's prettier-- lots of nice colors on the control panel 2) more stable in flight (slightly....the Cerberus Vanguard is really good too, but looks like the stealth bomber with its blacks and dark greys lol) 3) it's smaller-- 1.5 km so it can go down to 750 meters rather than the other ship which is 3.5 km in size so it can't get lower than 1.75 km? Although that's pretty low too, both are around or less than 1 mile or 5,000 feet or so in altitude!)
If there's no atmosphere, there's no drag to slow you down. There is a minimum altitude where you can maintain a stable orbit though. Varies with the system. You've never piloted a ship into orbit yet? After all this time? And you call yourself a space jockey...![]()
Do I have to do anything special to go into orbit or can I do it using the Hor controls too? How would I know when orbit is attained-- a stable altitude? Is there an auto setting for that lol?
Wow those are beautiful! Well to me orbit is the same thing as being able to fly around the planet for days without having to touch the controls at all (well, functionally they are the same thing lol.)Don't we have a Flight School thread for this? A-L-E-X, check your PMs.Wow those are beautiful! Well to me orbit is the same thing as being able to fly around the planet for days without having to touch the controls at all (well, functionally they are the same thing lol.)
White dwarf/red dwarf binary in this case. How do you get such vivid contrasty colors, Fellow Alex?
Well, you have a lot of addons, and may have changed the default addresses, so this may not work for you:Wow I need to find distinct colors like these!
I've been looking for multiple star systems like that.
Thanks I will! I've been avoiding galaxy and nebula add ons so I don't mess with the address system!Well, you have a lot of addons, and may have changed the default addresses, so this may not work for you:Wow I need to find distinct colors like these!

The planet I'm orbiting is:
RS 8093-2251-8-8180399-2344 B1
2.904 day orbit around the red dwarf, semimajor axis a little under 2.3M kilometers.
The white dwarf is just about 1AU distance at the moment.
If it doesn't work for you, just try searching for white dwarf systems, at least a binary. Something nice is bound to eventually show up.![]()
