Nathan's Ships 'N' Systems

I'd love to see some fully textured thargoid ships. Also, is it possible to make the ships faster? I love the look of the python but it can't even fly in a 0.5 g environment.

I'll look into that :) There's two reasons the Python isn't fully textured. 1: The main texture of the ship's hull is ripped as a strange pink and purple image, and it doesn't line up with the UV maps I rip. 2: Some of the models aren't ripped with a UV map, so to texture them I'd have to unwrap them manually and make sure they line up with the ripped texture. But I don't know if this will happen with Thargoid ships, so I'll try.

I actually got the values for its thrust from this spreadsheet of the ships' accelerations. I didn't realize the Python wasn't powerful enough, so I've tripled the values.

Thanks. Elite handles its ship's acceleration weird, the thrusters seem to always be able to lift the ship, and they can only go so fast. It's one of the most unrealistic aspects of the game, the fact that ships have a top speed. I think it's just done for gameplay reasons more than anything. Either way, space engine handles ship acceleration in a completely different way, it seems to go based on modern thruster technology rather than elite's far more advanced thrusters (which I think use plasma) that seem a little absurd at some points. Either way, nerdy rant over, keep up the good work.

Thargoid ships were a suggested addition, so I've created the Cyclops variant of the Thargoid Interceptor. Though there are more variants, they're a lot harder to rip than playable ships. I don't have control of them and I have to find them then move the free camera to a position so that other unwanted models are ripped. Plus their irregular, organic shapes means I position each individual piece of the ships into place with less certainty. I may do more in the future.

I've updated the Elite: Dangerous+ mod. Now includes the Asp Explorer. I'm really happy about this one because I figured out a trick to add decals, to add more detail to the ship. Also, I've learned more about how normal maps and specular maps work in SE, so I made sure to give different parts of the ship different visual properties (shiny metal vs the matte paint job). Unfortunately I couldn't add the AspX's iconic stripes in a way that looked good :(

The cyclops isn't fully textured, all the petals are just white, yet in the screenshot you showed, they have texture.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll take a look.

It should work now. The names of some materials caused some confusion. Let me know if anything else isn't right.

Could you make the ships more manuverable? when going above 150 m/s, its nearly impossible to turn your ship in any direction.

These models are excellent. The last two, with the textures and cockpits, are outstanding.

Any plans to update the first bunch of ships to add textures?

Sorry for the late response. I'll check them out, but I don't recall any rotation issues. Maybe I haven't done enough testing.

Thank you, I appreciate that :) Which bunch of ships are you talking about? Do you mean my first ED mod with the untextured ships?

Yes, that's the one. The Beluga Liner with normals and textures... that would be perfect as the Captain's barge on one of the larger ships.

Any more ships on their way? I'm curious. Still using the python and asp by the way.

I'm not planning any at the moment. I'd love to, but I'm occupied with life stuff.

Ah, yeah. Real life, always getting in the way of the good stuff. In all seriousness, I hope things go well for you.
