Video Production/Editing

27 Aug 2017 07:58

So recently I've been making some videos about SE on Youtube. I'm quite a rookie on the matter, so I thought it would be amazing if I can see videomakers in the forum exchanging opinions and experience, thus the thread. Hope you guys like it! :-)
To start with, I have 2 questions.
1.What's the best video editor you recommend?
2.How to improve the efficiency when editing or trimming?

To answer your first question I use wondershare filmora. For any video. You can get a trail version for free and pay for the full version. But there's an easy way to get the full version for free. I can send you details through PM.

I use OBS for filiming.

Shotcut for editing.

Both are free and don't have viruses. I found that some others sometimes to contain viruses, so be careful.

i usually export stuff like cylindrical maps-planet textures and such to After effects
that way i can get the enviroments (convert to hdr) and use element 3d for animating ships and such,
even easier is using iclone7 as it also has pbr rendering and easy cameras

Haven't played with them much, but HitFilm Express and OneShot Video Editor are free and well-featured with no watermark or anything (HFE, though, has an odd activation process). OSVE seems to have to fixed its crashes but I couldn't figure out how to make a custom video size, plus its file sizes were a bit bigger than HFE's.

If you're looking to cut something, I quite recommend Online Video Cutter, assume the file size isn't over 500 MB. Its file size output is wonderfully small.

OBS seems laggy/stuttery on my PC with SE. Is using Steam's built-in video recorder/streamer any better for slower PC's like mine?

I use kdenlive in Kubuntu for editing.  I find it easy to use, but it's a bit unstable (which has improved much lately, though).

I use FlashBack Express, it lets me make 720P videos with 7.1 sound that are one hour long at less than 1 GB in size!

Which of the above make the smallest sized .avi in terms of storage size?  With Flashback Express I just made a 1 hr 46 min .avi that is an 818 mb .avi file.  Can any of the above make one smaller than that?  The resolution of the video is 720P.

The first question is what are you editing on? Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android. With this basic question I can guess you haven’t really used a serious editing program yet. Maybe iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. You need to decide first what your editing on then tell us as you ask your question. Then understand how much do you want to learn. On a basic level they are all the same. It comes down to their individual features and performance after that.

Joyoshare Media Cutter is decent. Easy-to-use and all-in-one video editor.
