In the grim darkness of the 41st millennia... there are only electronic pipe-organs and gothic choirs!

Sounds like something that would fit right in with Asimov's The End of Eternity haha

Synthwave, 80s, and deep house, my tastes are leaking into the SE community it seems.

I think a lot of people here are into that sort of music... it's just the generational/intellectual disposition of space nerds 8-). I've been a Synth/retro/ambient freak since my early years, and listen to it far more then any other genre.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's.  In the 70's (of which I don't remember much) synths were experimental.  In the 80's they became mainstream.  And in the 80's during the home computer boom it became possible for kids to be very creative with music.  Synths were still limited, but that also gave the music of the time its distinctive sound.

Ha! That means you're a bit younger then my dad. He was the one who introduced me to the wonders of Synthsound. Some of my oldest memories were of listening to Vangelis with him.

Beautiful music by Jennifer Galatas from a beautiful documentary (Biosphere: Continuum, it is non-narrative and well worth it):
