Secret space program, probably one of our many Daedalus class cruisers coming out of hyperspace

Planetary nebula forming in a binary system, probably.

I was thinking more along the lines of a faded/diffuse proto-planetary disk around a brown dwarf  :P

For a bit of a change, I made one from Opportunity, which is still somehow functional  :D
It's fun to think about how this rover is almost on the other side of mars from curiosity

It's a spider. What it does is visit relatively new webpages and scans for new data to add to the google search engine

Yeah, I spotted several bots lurking the new forum. It's all indexed, be polite  ;)

It's just amazing, all the sites are like connected together. I wonder how it works... Maybe it goes into already-indexed sites looking for links that leads to sites that are not indexed. Still the bot isn't registered to the site, right? An AI couldn't find the register form in every kind of site. Also I guess it would be blocked by anti-bot systems.
But why deep-web sites are not indexed then? I've seen a couple links for some.

I guess, for well-known indexing services, like Google. Baidu, Yahoo and so on different rules apply. They can register on the web pages.

Indeed. But you do need to directly communicate to a search engine the presence of a new domain, let's say spacecows.com, there's a page/procedure for this. Then it will analyze the website structure, how much is linked to existent websites in order to calculate a certain "weight" for the site. Bots will analyze periodically for changes.

Bots cannot register in forums, it would be the end of the internet :D :D
They simply navigate thru posts as guests, they behave like browsers but instead to announce themselves as "USER_AGENT=Mozilla Firefox 50.0" or something similar, they request pages as "USER_AGENT=Googlebot", for example. Hence the PHP code used by the forum will assign "Google [bot]" to the bot guest, making it as a known user.

Imagine what would happen if some user-eyes-only threads were indexed... Bloodbaths at least :)

Phew...it's certainly a good thing bots can't actively participate as users on the forum! Things would fall apart immediately if that were possible.

Finally saw Rogue One, pretty boring movie. Too much fan service, no good characters, plot was predictable and dull. Had some good CGI combined with practical effects, but the human CGI was bad.
