Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

22 Feb 2017 15:13

Hi. Could you please attach your se.log file which is located in your SpaceEngine/system/ folder, as requested in the topmost message of this thread?

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

cjbutl,
as I see, you have the latest driver for your graphics card. This may be the problem. Nvidia drivers have occasionally caused problems. Then you have to try to install an older driver.

First, however, delete the 'cache' folder in the SpaceEngine directory. Maybe that solves your problem already.
I rolled back my driver to version 372.90, wiped cache, reinstalled and still no fix. Planet surfaces still won't render, unfortunately.

LightShader, yes that is it. I unfortunately can't use it to help you because i don't know how Space Engine works, maybe somebody who knows how Space Engine works can help :)

Alright, thanks. Guess I'll just wait for a new version, hopefully with a fix.

updating drivers, reinstalling, adjusted LOD settings, nothing has worked so fa
DId you install over the existing version? Try again, using a new folder. There are some suspicious warnings in your se.log regarding shaders loading phase.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

Hey, I can open up my space engine but it has a 144x1 resolution and when i use resizer to make it 1920x1080 it won't show up on my screen. How do I fix this?
I had the same problem once, the solution was deleting the whole SpaceEngine folder (not the game) and reinstalling Space Engine.

It deletes all your locations and settings though.

While trying to add the Great January Comet of 1910, I noticed the sunlit atmosphere seems to 100% extinguish the tail. Even thought the thing itself is called "Daylight comet" for a reason

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

25 Feb 2017 21:33

I am having a few small issues.

First, after updating my graphics I am still having an issue with suns appearing smaller and dimmer than they should from the surfaces of most planets and moons when auto exposure is on.
scr00153.jpg
scr00153.jpg
Second, the locations of my custom stars seem to be poorly defined as the stars seem to bounce around randomly when I view them across short interstellar distances. The locations are fine once I get close to the system.

Third, I have been fiddling around with the atmospheric composition of one of my moons and I found that, strangely, the greenhouse gas rich atmosphere I originally made only produces a greenhouse effect of about 8.7°F. It stays at that point when I change the composition until I put the N2 content up to about 75% and then the greenhouse effect suddenly jumps to 48.6°F. So nitrogen seems to have some odd effects on greenhouse heating.

Atmosphere composition is still new, it is not anywhere near perfect :) Hopefully it will be fixed in next update :)

Have you tried enabling diffraction spikes in Space Engine, or are they already enabled?

There are several syntax errors listed in some of your scripts according to your se.log file. Use it to locate and check those lines. Then try to see if your issues are solved.
Are your stars placed out of our galaxy? A "bouncing" star I read it's usually the result of a star placed at very great distances from Earth. SE can't calculate very precisely such position.

Himself,
like Mosfet said, there are some errors in your scripts. Your addon scripts 'Charnplanets.sc' and 'Tallonplanets.sc' seem to be flawed.

I have diffraction spikes enabled by default. Strangely, I can see the glow of a sun if I turn them off.

I did fix the syntax errors, but they appear to be have been unrelated to my issues. The stars I made are in the Milky Way about 43 kly from Earth. Would that be a large enough distance for such an error?
The glitch with the suns as viewed from their planets occurs with procedural objects as well.

It seems the sun visibility bug is fixed in the next version anyway.

When ship is in orbit around a planet and high (>1000-3000) time rate is used, ship suddenly gets landed at surface.

Why no? It's possible, read the adding planets manual.
I can't seem to get SE to run on my machine. The program starts, but all planets are invisible. I'm running Windows 10 64bit and the graphics card is a gtx860m. I updated to the newest drivers, though it doesn't work on any of the older ones either. Here is the system log file.
You have attached a log of some successful run.

This response is not helpful unfortunately; I am experiencing the same issue with invisible planets. I installed Reshade successfully however the cloud cover on exoplanets are the only visible component of them.
