Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

15 Nov 2018 13:14

Whenever I enter the planetarium, the screen starts glitching out. I can still fly around and look at things, but the screen is extremely fuzzy and staticky. I have the latest version of my graphics card, and messing with the PlanetVSFetching setting has had no results.

You have an Intel graphics card. Intel graphics cards do not work very well with SpaceEnigine.
If they work at all.
Minimum requirement is an AMD or Nvidia card.

Jack, what is the keyboard command for straightening horizons again?  I thought it was the space bar but on my new computer that pauses time instead.

Also I dont know if this is a bug or not but when I load a saved location that I saved and then try to set it to the current time, it changes the perspective, makes the horizon irregular and even changes the location on the planet for some reason- in my current one it went from mountainous to flat land.

It is the 'End' key.

Thanks Jack I need to update my list of hotkeys lol.  I wrote them down in notepad but that was on my old computer.

Is there a reason that updating the time would change the terrain and orientation of the horizon?

Of course, as the planet rotates, the terrain shown is different if you change the time.

haha I like that JD!  I saw some of your informative posts on reddit also (Doc is also on there).

Oh I see what you mean.  I was wondering how that works- I thought with Relativity there is no such thing as absolute space or absolute time, it is the reason given for why if we time travel our location relative to our surroundings does not change- is that true?

Basically if you use a time machine to go back or forward in time when you exit the machine you would be in the same location relative to your surroundings because there is no such thing as absolute space or absolute time.

Only if you have a time machine that compensates for the movement of the earth, the sun, and the galaxy.

guys I am sorry I know there has to be a way to post in the proper thread, so feel free to guid me there.  I have a big issue, my docking abilities stopped for all of my instalations. I have atleast four separate installations and the green lines will no longer appear for me no matter what I do. I noticed when I was trying to dock with the space station. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. This docking issue is affecting all vessels.

Anyone Else getting this weird crash?

28 Nov 2018 21:59

After a while of playing the "Planetary System" catalogue starts lagging until the engine crashes. I thought it might be a memory leak so I opened my task manager and I've documented the proceeding.
Startup.png
Here's the my memory usage looks like at startup
here's what resource monitor said after I flew around a bit
Fly around after startup.png
At first I thought.png
so I flew to a planet to jack up the texture memory because at first I thought that there might be a memory leak like I mentioned but It wasn't too long before the memory usage went down as it started to flicker.
.
Then I saw it flicjering but.png
flickering 3.png
Soon afterwards I bolted off in some random direction in these conditions and it crashed!

I planned on uploading my SE.log but the file is too large so I'll paste the relevant stuff in here, I have written
"......//data was deleted from log"  where I have removed content to keep it brief.  hopefully I didn't remove anything too crucial.
► Show Spoiler
to save you the hassle of looking through my logs I'll tell you that when it crashed there was no error message, perhaps there's an unhanded exception.

Here's my play pattern.  I go to the star browser, search for any objets, sort them by planet or star class whatever suits my mood. I pick one, open the planetary system catalogue find an interesting place and goto it.  I fly around, take screenshots, then I move to the next one in the star browser find another one from the Planetary system catalogue and keep doing it until I get this bug that I described.

One thing I noticed is that every time this happens I see the purple loading spinny thing on the upper right corner of my screen, and it gets really laggy, then when I move out of a system, a cluster or a galaxy, it crashes in the way I described.

I was wondering if anyone else had this happen, If so are there things I can do to fix this?
also Thank you for taking the time to review this.  It's a lot to absorb.

Something similar happened to me a while back. I think I simply set my virtual memory settings to something I manage like around 8 gigabytes.
CPU: AMD FX-8350 8 core processor 4GHz / GPU: GeForce GT 730 @ 1920x1080, 60Hz with 1GB adapter RAM / RAM: Patriot Signature 4GB 1600MHz 240-Pin DDR3 (only 2GB work, don't buy it) / Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming MS-7693
