Speaking of misaligned orbits, why are so many Hot Jupiters in polar orbits around their host star? 

Most likely a combination of planet-planet scattering events and the Kozai Mechanism.  We don't think they simply formed in those orbits, because the protoplanetary disk should be aligned with the star's rotation, and migration of the gas giant by interacting with the disk alone should also keep it in that plane.

That would be cool to try to photograph.  Too bad I'm not on the east coast anymore -- it was fun being able to see rocket launches from Wallops Island.

yeah this seems like a good reason for it.
i remember that we heard radio signals from p67 comet and we didnt know why until we realized it's something related to the water vapor or something like that if i remember correctly.

Back in 2005, the martian rover Opportunity had damage to the front-right wheel's steering actuator.

Today, Opportunity's front-left wheel got stuck. This is very similar to the other rover Spirit's loss of control of it's front-right wheel, which it dragged along until its death, getting stuck in the sand. 

so it means...opportunity may come to an end....

That's just insane, I hope Curiosity will survive as much as Opportunity did!

Salvo, The problem is, Curiosity's power is limited. It has a battery instead of solar panels.

A radioisotope thermoelectric generator, not just a battery. But yes, it's lifetime is limited by that.

cassini got that generator and the probe survived until now. but a probe is different than a rover on a planet surface.
i guess if everything will go well without a wheel getting stuck or broken...i give curiosity 5-10 more years
