Beautiful shot, Aborygen!
I concur.

I'm starting to see a lot of noise in your recent pics when zoomed in to full resolution. Is that a result of some post processing or some new compression artifacts I haven't seen before? They still look beautiful, though.

Tbh i don't really know, it could be my potato computer or compression artifacts. although it seems to me i know where the problem is. I will try to fix it in my next post.

Actually, it reminds me of the "oil painting" effect filter you see in some graphic applications. Looks a bit like canvas texture. But as I say, I only see it when I zoom in to 100%, and at that resolution, it is far too large to see the whole thing. (6,400 by 3,600 pixels. Do you have a monitor with that resolution on your "potato" computer? Hardly deserves the "potato" descriptor if that is the case. :o )

I'm not sure but it might be due to the image hosting service.  Compare it to the original on your computer and see if there's a difference.  If so you might consider using a different site to host your large images -- deviantart will preserve the original quality for example.

I've noticed imgur also does a bit of quality degradation to large images.
