Gonder, a 970 is fine, just not great and will have a fair few limitations but it will run SE perfectly fine for the average use still.

At LOD 0 what do you think the maximum GPU usage/ VRAM memory used might be at 1080 P?  From what I've read, the 1060 6 GB GTX card should be well within specs?

Would it be possible to get LOD 1 for 4K screenshots ONLY? Maybe with tile-based rendering? I imagine out-of-core memory caching is impossible with OpenGL.

I just read the Terrain 2.0 post and I am so excited about the improvements! Amazing work! I do have one question though, excuse my lack of technical knowledge in this field but would these improvements allow or be a step closer to allowing seasonal textures? (changing textures)

Probably yes, updating all textures on the planet is quite fast now.

Can't wait for what the seasons look like on other planets

I still have a feeling this is further down the road but I am excited by the possibility that some day we could have seasons. :D

Pfft, you asking for volumetric clouds or something? Didn't SpaceEngineer say that those weren't gonna happen?

No, he said that they would be implemented down the road and are not yet a chief concern. I for one cannot wait for atmospheric volumetrics, but I acknowledge that Vladimir has bigger fish to fry. Perhaps when the Vulkan API is implemented, he can host SE on one of those shiny graphics engines like CryEngine, Unity or (I hope) Unreal, and that might help in the development of the next-gen effects that we are yearning for.
