Total Solar Eclipse 2017

welp... the maximum coverage (70%) in Saskatchewan just past. To be honest I'm disappointed. I was hoping a 70% coverage would give a good effect but the sun was still very bright, even the atmosphere didn't drop in brightness for it to be noticeable. so I seem to have got myself worked up over an event that wasn't even as impressive as it could have been

. oh well... maybe next time

I am failed to go to USA, watched CNN live stream in 360° VR in HTC Vive. Quality was fairly bad, waiting when they share some 4k/8k 360° video to watch it again.
It seems forecast was correct, Pacific states had a clear sky, while Atlantic ones was cloudy

I just returned to my hotel from viewing the eclipse in Madisonville, Tennessee. Sky was clear and eclipse was visible the whole time. Very nice experience, except for the extreme heat. Once the moon started blocking the sun though it got better

Will post pictures whenever I process them, some will have to wait until Thursday.

I have a question, can it correctly model eclipses going back hundreds of years and hundreds of years in the future too?

Do you think in the future humanity might be able to engineer our own artificial eclipses and give them a wider coverage and make them last longer? What kind of tech would it take?

I don't know what it would take. But I feel like having an artificial or in other words "a forced" eclipse wouldn't be as special as a natural eclipse. Natural eclipse seem to come rare enough for if someone where to see it, It feels so special. But a forced eclipse that comes say every year wouldn't feel as special after some time.

The eclipse in Madras was a success but a thin layer og mid altitude clouds washed out the corona a bit. We made it out of the totality zone in 4 hours through backroads and the traffic has become much better.

Postibg pics and video will take a couple of day. I expect to be back at my hotel around 1am and I have a workday from 0800-1900 tomorrow.

Just got back to Hood River. Meeting with Midtskogen was rendered impossible due to network overload, but apparently we were very nearby. Totality was very exciting!

Was concerned with a thick bank of wildfire smoke that slowly drifted in from the south and covered the sun and much of the sky during eclipse, but it was thin enough for most of the corona to shine through.

It is definitely true that no photo does the corona justice, though my impression is that the render/prediction posted earlier was pretty close.

Favorite part of the experience was the crowd reaction as totality struck.

More to share later. Glad to hear there was some success in the east!
