SpaceEngine F.A.Q.

Perhaps that's a good idea for another setting in Space Engine — ability to display/adjust FoV as a vertical or horizontal measurement. Perhaps it would be even better if we could make the program display the window circularly so there would be no need for a vertical or horizontal measurement and i...

Thats why I love the 4:3 aspect ratio both for monitors and camera sensors, it's easy to calculate all FOV because all you need to know is that it's a 3-4-5 right triangle so VFOV=3, HFOV=4, DFOV=5 Sure, if you need that information. But that still doesn't answer Explorer's question, now, does it? ...

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Thread

Definitely, vaccines first though I'm a bit concerned with what Dr Fauci said last night which is he wants everyone to get boosters every 6 months, instead of once a year. We are definitely seeing vaccines lose effectiveness after 6 months as there was a nursing home in CT where infections started s...

Thanks Wat and great image too!  I'm staying up for max eclipse in less than 3 hours even though it's raining here but the rain is supposed to exit in 2 hours and skies are supposed to quickly clear!  And I read that there are two total lunar eclipses for us next year, in May and November, so this i...

It's been updated to now 6 tornadoes on Long Island!  There had never been a recorded tornado on Long Island before and the previous record for the entire year was 3 in one day (and records go back to 1950 for these.)  One landed right in my town and the other 5 were east of me.  They actually weren...

38250  Are you coming here for the April 2024 eclipse? Currently planning for Texas where the chances of clear skies are greatest (besides in Mexico, but fewer roads and services along the track there). And yes, hard to forget the prominences which were spectacular in the 2017 eclipse. The largest ...

Okay I set both to 85% I wonder if this correct for my use case, so thats 5222 for VRAM (85% of 6144) and 13926 for RAM (85% of 16384).  I actually have 32 GB of RAM as back up (Crucial RAM instead of Kingston RAM which is what I have in right now, but same speed DDR4-2666).  I see 85% in another se...

Got it working.  It was running out of graphics memory for some reason.  Renaming the Main_User file and running again fixed it. did you edit the main user file to change the amount of graphics memory the program is allowed to use? I'm confused with a few things....what settings should be edit in t...

An amazing day on Saturday!  Long Island had never before seen a November tornado (period of record beginning in 1950) and on Saturday we saw 4 tornadoes on the same day on Long Island including one that touched down right in my town!  I lost power for 3 hours that afternoon, and the whole house was...

The study is not yet peer reviewed so some skepticism is warranted. There was a similar study a few months ago, which wildly made the rounds on the internet, claiming to find evidence of widespread SARS-CoV-2 infection in deer populations, again through the detection of antibodies. I don't know abo...

38239 whats this about monster solar storms on the menu for the next 4 years? Nothing too special, just the 11-year solar cycle doing its thing. I look forward to seeing how the corona looks in the 2024 eclipse. :) https://i.imgur.com/7CsMJho.png Also, please make an effort to cut down on the amoun...
