37820 Do you have optimism that say within the next few hundred years or so (especially once we have a working theory of quantum gravity) we'll be able to make this workable? I think STL warp may be possible but the FTL aspect not so much. 37822 In the abstract they mention conventional EM ...
37814 he found that a warp drive wouldn’t need to use negative energy. Lentz’s solution would allow the bubble to travel faster than the speed of light. He still has the issue with horizons and just because he built a geometry which has balanced forces, he still has solutions within requiring ...
37771 So boost 20 is the limit for the most powerful warp engines in any ship in SE? I have ships that have a boost of 21, but you will leave the universe pretty quickly at that point, even if you are only traveling at 10km/s. You can set the number to anything, but going beyond 20 is pretty much ...
37738 This is mind blowing....I wonder which of these warp scales SE uses? Does it use the cubic scale? Obviously not the asymptotic scale since starships in SE regularly reach and exceed warp 10. SE has it's own scale that has nothing to do with Star Trek. In Trek the warp drive is it's own ...
37392 This would be a way to map the interior of these spinning black holes including ring singularities, Doc? The individual who has been working on said black holes has done interiors, but they are extremely demanding on systems, that is something that will need to be investigated at a later ...
wow and Kerr black holes will look even more intriguing
Still being worked on but more around the Kerr update and the volumetric update should be coming soon-ish, as in couple months given the complexity of the problem maybe longer.
37294 Doc how do you like your new Ryzen 5900X? Could it be run on an air cooler rather than water cooling? So far I am not disappointed with how it performs, but I recommend a larger air cooler like the one I purchased, definitely helps with thermals. 37294 I'm actually thinking of getting the ...
Very oddly RDR2 is one of the few games I have not seen benefit from this upgrade, same perf as before, but I have been tweaking settings to get a bigger boost. Must be their ultra settings that bottleneck modern systems.
Yeah, but it tends to destabilize the overclock, I did have to underclock the VRAM due to overheating during summer, lots of stuttering in games, throttling.
36903 Either way, trajectories in SE are completely Euclidean and Kerr interiors would be extremely difficult to implement. Visually at least, it can be done, ringularity and all, but extremely heavy on performance. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/356978443675762688/857726520587190282 ...
