Science and Astronomy Questions

What would be the smallest plausible density of a potentially habitable rocky planet? Mean density of Earth is 5514 kg/m 3 . Density of aluminium, which is quite a common element, is 2700 kg/m 3 . I often come across Earth-sized or larger desert worlds less dense than that. What elements or ...

Puffy planet
http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a632/0Arnost/scr00166_zpsjsu1kbhb.jpg [/size]

Speaking of small red dwarf stars, past M8.0 V, they get a lot smaller than Saturn, at M9.3 V, smaller than Uranus.
I found one twice the size of Earth. Why does SE make them this small? Is it realistic ...

Terraforming our Solar System one object at a time

Venus must have a slow rotation to enable temperate climate, according to some modern study.
I have stumbled across this on wikipedia.

More recent research has however shown that the current slow rotation rate of Venus is not detrimental to the planet's capability to support an Earth-like ...

Your Search Parameters for Finding Earthlike Terras?

My parameters are these.

These are for all sorts of planets about which I think may be tarraformable. There are plenty of such. The lower mass limit of 0.05 is just under the mass of Mercury, which has nearly the same ...

I've been playing around with Earth a lot lately.

At first I have put Earth onto different orbits around different types of stars. I have only specified radii, masses, bump map, bump height, atmosphere, semi-major axes and eccentricity - 0 in almost all cases. Then I added life to see what colour ...

The most insane thing I've ever seen is a ridiculously volcanic moon. I mean seriously, that thing illuminated the moons nearby as if it were the reflection of the planet.
Once I created a star and it generated a bunch of procedural planets. One moon was 2.11 magnitudes brighter than it's cold gas ...

Take a look at this thing. I've been looking for terra moons of gas planets in the Triangulum galaxy and stumbled across this one.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

An'shur ,
maybe your comet script contains too many objects.
The same problem I have when I use asteroid belts with too many objects.
I guess the number of possible nonprocedural objects is limited by the available memory.
SE generates up to 1000 asteroids and often around 150 comets in one system ...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.9.8.0

Hello, I have a major problem.

Besides that, I also have few fairly minor issues I can live with. For example: Planets are sometimes glitchy in editor mode, but it's good in planetarium. SE crashes when I fly like crazy in globular clusters, nebulae or galactic cores. My computer does not like ...

It also has a planetary system. Some of these planets are big enough to cause total solar eclipses on the outer worlds.

Edit: I went searching even ...
