Sci-Fi (and other genre) Movies & TV Series

Worst sci-fi plot ever?

Space; How did you get interested in it?

I got interested in space because life on Earth is too boring
I certainly hope that you are joking here. Although there are various and wondrous vistas available on the planets of our solar-system and perhaps beyond, no environment in doubtless several cubic light-years will match the awesome ...

29429 In the event of thermonuclear war, would SpaceEgine get a patch or texture update to reflect the changes on Earth? Extra dust clouds, scorched fallout zones, red oceans, California floating in the Pacific, etc?
That is an interesting suggestion, not so much for Earth, but another alien ...

Science and Astronomy Questions

29358 Do you think that galaxies further away from us would be more massive? Would the earliest galaxies formed probably contain the most mass?
While there are some very massive galaxies far out in the depths of the universe who dwarf our own Milky Way, it would be wrong to say that there is a ...

Paint can add up in overall weight surprisingly fast - especially if it is specially-treated to absorb light (since these additives would make the paint thicker and thus heavier). This won't make much difference on small satellites - but bigger ones would require more paint. Since most of these ...

If you don't like that, then maybe I shouldn't mention that the Venus map is entirely made from radar images...
Heh, yeah I know about that too. Defintely a thorn in the side of realism. I hope we can make a visible spectrum map one day.

I take it that the infrared map of Titan is a temporary feature of this version? From what I have seen of DoctorofSpace 's work on planetary palettes, photorealism seems to the aim of the engine when simulating planetary features. It seems a bit unrealistic to have a infrared map of Titan while ...

Conspiracy Theory Thread

We lost one of the greats recently when it comes to conspiracies.
That is indeed sad. He was one of the few level-headed ones (as far as UFOlogists go ;)).

28876 Stellarator, do you find having authority figures a good thing?
Yes I do, but we must be aware of their limitations and create laws or regulations that curb their interests so that they are doing what is best for society, not themselves or their peers. "What is good for society" is a tricky ...
