Work progress 0.991

Also with regards to satellites and space stations like the ISS or TESS they aren't accurate in terms of placement in the sky at a given time are they? And there's no way to enter them and get a view of the interior is there? Thanks!
No, their position is not accurate in general. It's only ...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Found some issues with waypoints - they don't work properly when parented to spacecraft. For example, if attached to the ISS in Earth orbit, the waypoint remains fixed in space relative to the Sun while the Earth and ISS orbit away. Same goes for the fixed Apollo LMs on the Moon and any free ...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

FOV accepts the (undocumented) parameter Time, try:
FOV 2.5 {Time 60}
FOV 13 {Time 0}
Nice, thanks! :) It didn't cross my mind to try that.

Space; How did you get interested in it?

My story started in high school. I was interested in maths and sciences previously but what really turned my eyes forever skywards was Carl Sagan's Cosmos . I can't remember how I stumbled into watching it but most likely it was short clips on YouTube after which I downloaded and binge-watched the ...

General suggestions for SpaceEngine

I have a few script/variable suggestions that could make recording videos better:

FOV as a variable so it could be interpolated or add time parameter to the current FOV command, which would allow a nice smooth telescopic zoom in or out.
Same for Time. There is currently an option to interpolate ...

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Hi.
I'm having an issue with changing exposure value smoothly in a script. Basically I'm trying to record a video of flying past a planet's nightside and would like to increase exposure smoothly to bring out the night sky as the sun sets. These are the commands used:
Set PhotoMode 1 // Manual ...

What other games do you play?

For some funny reason the few games I play occasionally nowadays all have the number 4 in them: Civilization IV and SimCity 4 for when I need a break from the real world and GTA IV when I feel like causing some random mayhem :)
How would I be able to make a planet that resembles Melancholia?
I would recommend scouting around for super-Earths with dense clouds, blueish-tinted surface and thick atmosphere to get ...

Translators

I'm somewhat confused how to start with a new translation. From what I've read on this thread it seems like 0.9.8.0 and 0.9.9.0 have quite a lot of differences (planet categorisation, credits, etc) so should I start translating my existing version and include/edit new stuff as it is released or can ...

Hello!

I've been lurking in this forum (and the old one) for quite a few years now and finally decided to sign up. I work in a planetarium and I've been secretly dreaming of the day we might be able to switch over to SE for its fantastic visuals. It's still missing quite a few important features ...
