Re: A very PC discussion

Mine ended up dying and a friend of mine from another state that works in IT and runs another forum I am on donated a cheap ex server mATX intel board with a quad core, I think the same as an i5 2500 but in a newer gen refresh. Added my old ram and his together and it's got 24Gb now, still the same ...

Re: A very PC discussion

Haven't posted in a long time. Thought I check the forum and the news updates. Heard there is migration to Vulkan in the works which is great!

My main PC is dying, faulty bios chip or possible bad ram slot contacts, but I'm erring on the side of a bad bios since the issues only happen if the PC ...

Re: What other games do you play?

Haven't really tried anything other than 1440p. Can't recall exact settings but it's custom mix of ultra and some medium settings.

It was after the relativity update that I now deem it unplayable on my PC. 1-2 fps where near black holes and maybe max of 14 fps on planet surfaces. I feel like I ...

Rarely:

F.E.A.R

Games wanting to get once I upgrade my PC:

Project cars 2, (Played the 1st one on my ...

Re: Astrophotography

Haven't been on the forum for quite some time, so this was a nice little heads up. Seems that more often than not the southern hemisphere misses out on majority of the good comets, and when we do get a good one, it's lost into the footnotes of history and not mentioned anywhere unless you search for ...

Re: A very PC discussion

Has anyone used a Radeon 6000 series (aka RDNA2) on SE? Last I heard which is not directly related to SE but is relevant to SE, that RDNA2 was not so good with OpenGL but recent drivers where AMD reworked OpenGL support has seen big improvements, 30+ % in most games, bringing them comparable to ...

It was heard here on the east coast of Australia and very loud in NZ from what I heard people saying there.

I didn't hear it, either didn't notice or the dividing range in Australia blocked it as I am just on the other side of it an hour or so north of Melbourne.

Troubleshooting and bug reports - SpaceEngine 0.990

Found a bug with the graphics setting for "Fast temporal rendering".   If you un-tick it, it always defaults back to ticked when restarting SE.  All other settings seems to stay as set.

It's in the latest beta build with volumetric rings.

Just 16GB since it's ddr3. Not much point going for full capacity 32GB expensive kit on such an old system.

I just pick a good reference frame and let the batch preprocessing script do the work.

I recently added more ram and swapped out my 13 year old HDD for an SSD.

To batch process 10 pics would take 50min and often crash, now 86 pics only took 25min without issue.

I think this one is good enough for my liking and I shall call it done. 86 pics at 2 min each, 20 darks at 2 min, all cooled to -15c and we also got a coma corrector so the image improved dramatically, HFRs from high 5s to low 3s.

Also nice seeing how the rejection works in pixinsight. Fair few ...
