Re: Work progress 0.991

I'd be curious to know the progress on the work for fuel and thermal systems for ships that were shown about 2 years ago, what was shown was really exciting but we haven't heard from it ever since!

Re: Astrobiology in Space Engine

I've spent the last few weeks working on a new procedural tree generator. Same six parameters as before: age, surface gravity, apparent solar luminosity, moisture, solar spectrum/peak wavelength, and average global temperature. They interact to affect the shape, size and color of the trees, as well...

Work progress 0.991

Some information was given on the official Discord, in short:  -They are in the process of moving SpaceEngine out of Russia as the different sanctions obviously impact the financial model -There should be a blog post about all of this soon-ish -Vladimir may be leaving Russia in the near future depen...

I would like to add that before you answer to Mr. Abner with more questions, you should go back to the basics with baby steps. His advice here is really valuable, as you keep going through the same problems because you are not taking the time to understand how the Flight Simulator really works, firs...

Now... I understand all the ring particles currently still orbit at the same speed. Does anybody know what that speed might be? Outer edge of the ring? Inner edge? Middle/average? 990-00236.jpg 990-00238.jpg The speed isn't the same across the whole ring, as described in one of the blog posts, the ...

Also once I reach Main engines 100 there is nothing further I can do to increase acceleration from within the program correct? I then have to go into the .sss file and change the warp factor if I want to get there faster? Just use time acceleration? I don't entirely understand why you don't use it ...

How do I accelerate the ship even more?  It still says it will take another over 1.1 days to get there and I want it to get there in about 10 hours or so?  Main engines are still maxxed at 100 and Boost is all the way at 11.637-- the highest it can get for this ship scr05156.jpg When you spawn the ...

Nevermind I didn't have the boost at max.  Is 11.637 boost enough to get anywhere in the SE Universe within a reasonable amount of time (12 hours at most?)  I'm a little disappointed, I thought there would be a warp bubble around the ship. scr05111.jpg Just zoom out and you'll see the bubble. With ...

The ship I use has a Dynamic Pressure of 20474, is that pretty good?
Dynamic pressure is not a static parameter. There is no "good" dynamic pressure, it is just a way to measure how much the ship is being affected by the surrounding atmosphere.

General 0.990 Discussion

Is there any way to change the dynamic pressure threshold switching between control surfaces and maneuvering engines in atmosphere? It seems to be 10 000 for every ship using the "shuttle" AeroModel which can be quite low in some scenarios and detrimental to maneuverability if the maneuver...

37287 Did you try undervolting your 3090? Yeah, but it tends to destabilize the overclock, I did have to underclock the VRAM due to overheating during summer, lots of stuttering in games, throttling. I also have issues with the VRAM temperature, have seen some people change the thermal pads which i...

Black hole slingshots using the current mechanics.

In order to prepare the trip what I do is find the two black holes I am going to use in the origin and target galaxy and add them to the location menu (F6 key). You have to be nearly landed on them for them to be added when you click the "add" button. I then use that menu with the targetin...

Black hole slingshots using the current mechanics.

Thanks this is a very helpful guide!  I'm going to try it next, you laid it out in a way that is very easy to understand.  I already did a trip from one end of M87 to the other, but it was done the usual way, not this, much more practical method.  One thing that should be pointed out- intermediate ...

Black hole slingshots using the current mechanics.

Hello! A few years ago, Vladimir proposed a way of traveling intergalactically quickly using the (then) new abilitiy spaceships had to travel: the warp drive (based on the Alcubierre warp drive). The way it works in SE is it boosts the "absolute speed" of a ship (galaxies/solar systems are...
