The most massive black holes in the Universe

36903 Either way, trajectories in SE are completely Euclidean and Kerr interiors would be extremely difficult to implement. Visually at least, it can be done, ringularity and all, but extremely heavy on performance. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/356978443675762688/857726520587190282/unknow...

Colaboration Possibility?

Well known but most likely uses entirely different systems to SE and is designed in a very different way,

It does seem similar to what future goals of SE will include, but it is pretty much not going to be a merger or partnership.  Conversion from D3D to OpenGL is also a pain in the poopchute.

Qr Bbpost Maybe you could show one with the new grids enabled

Currently doesn't support the geographic grid, system needs to be adjusted to this shader.

Qr Bbpost I'm sure you've looked at Kip Thorne's paper on rendering the Kerr black hole for the movie Interstellar

And for the movie they still settled on a similar rendering technique to what SE uses, non-Kerr and nonrotating.

Physical simulation of the space engine

36684 I agree that Kerr would be very difficult (if not impossible) This is something I have gone into quite a bit and tried figuring out with Duke but optimizing the Kerr metric requires assumptions for angles outside of equatorial and this gets very complex very fast, almost as complex as the met...

A-L-E-X, not the place or thread to ask about this and I have nothing to do with how Discord operates or someone using your email

There is a thread on this forum about it and the Discord is also linked on the main website page at the bottom.

Qr Bbpost If that is the case with the 3d rings than I will be forced to set them disabled (I sincerely hope there will be such an option) - can not risk & afford loosing my precious and only one 1080ti..

Or just turn the resolution setting on them down.

35910 These look like extremely thick rings - aren't they supposed to be more like 10m in vertical height? (if that's a typical Federation ship then the rings should be more like the thickness of the edge of the saucer section?) Maybe that's why it's over-taxing your system Read Vladimir's response...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You get used to it, he has every right to think and feel the way he does really. I don't agree that SE is doomed, but I do agree the team and development process can do better.

Qr Bbpost Doc are there any long term risks with the gpu running over 80C?

Shorter lifespan, but this applies to any piece of hardware.

Qr Bbpost Doc it might be time to get a second 3090 and run them together in SLI ;)

Would need a new PSU for that, plus SE doesn't really support SLI, nor does my wallet support another 3090.

35841 Performance is quite bad, we we were forced to reduce render resolution. Just to point out how hard this is on performance, I have a RTX 3090 running at almost 2200Mhz, it never gets over 75C in anything, I pushed 85C today just on these rings My LEDs are temperature based, red is above 80, I...
