(unless you chose it to demonstrate detail degrading at a distance dependent on the resolution)
That was my intent, will do a mountain range set tomorrow as I did not even consider it this time. Was more wanting to show how increasing the resolution affects distances.

Are youtubers like Scott Manley and ObsidianAnt, who are using these versions of SE on their channels, part of the beta testing group?

Have to open them in another tab and click from one to the next, there is a difference in each.  The difference is imperceptible on the forum due to small size of screens vs full resolution.
I tried that again and I can see a difference in anisotropic filtering (higher is the resolution, "whitish" and more realistic the terrains looks on middle distance), is that a wanted thing or a side effect?

Somehow, the effective temperatures of planets would not exceed 1 200 Kelvin (926.85 Celsius), neither would galaxies exceed a diameter of 100 000 parsecs (326 163 light-years). The temperature limitation has existed since 0.974. It's kinda unrealistic, will these limitations be removed in the 0.990 update?

Also, it's a pain in the arse to travel 46 billion light-years with a max speed of only 326 million light-years per second.

Honestly, the only reason I'm so eager for this new version are the added atmospheric composition filters. Can't wait to put CO2 and SO2 in the least percent category.

Is the new version going to allow us to play around with atmospheric composition on procedural planets?  For example- will it allow us to change the composition and percentage of each element or gas to see what the results are?

Thats excellent!  We'll be able to use different combos to change what color the sky is and what the terrain of the planet looks like, land vs sea ratio, etc.!

I'm curious if there will be a multiplayer aspect of this game, I have a really good friend of mine, (who is a physics and math major) and I was teaching him how to use/fly ships by setting up my phone on a tri-pod and using facebook messenger in hopes of him being able to re-create what he saw on my screen.  He wondered if there was a way for "his space" to be a part of "my space", aka a multiplayer aspect, so we could fly ships in that same space, say, around earth...  Thanks!

Atmosphere composition and color are not dependent directly, you have to define both in the catalog file. If color is not defined, SE just choose it semi-randomly, with a simple conditions like "if (Chlorine > 20%) then Green_model".

Quick question: when 0.990 drops on steam, will it become easier to share ships and stations between us, like utilising the steam workshop or something?

Why is this not for HTC vive yet? Also, why will this cost money for HTC vive users only?

Yes

Because the version that will support Vive - and the consumer version of Rift - has not been released yet. It's coming soon.
Also, why will this cost money for HTC vive users only?
What? It won't, it will cost the same amount for everyone. Where did you hear that?

Any news about when the new update will be ready? Also I had and still have the problem that the terrain on every planet doesn't load. It's just flat everywhere and I couldn't figure it out, how to fix it. I really spent hours on this forum, searched on google and watched youtube videos about this problem. Nothing helped.

Will the new update may will fix this problem?
