Poor mans 8 core AMD FX  really not good for anything intensive.  Basically any other CPU will run this just fine, the FX were just exceptionally bad even for their time.  Yep it hates these Gaia addons as they are almost entirely CPU bound. I am sure yours will be fine with the addon.

Guys its (probably) not (just) the cpu.. the program runs out of usable RAM. The moment it hits 3+ gigs of RAM usage it quits to desktop. I have a monster CPU and have the same fate.. I tried the 5M database and even when I disable proc+cat. galaxies, proc.stars & proc clusters I can go up to ~10.5 Magnitude (veery slowly) and then desktop.. If the above are enabled I can not even dream of 10 magnitude: ~8-9 and desktop.. (all this @ 5760x1080 resolution as I have 3 TVs..).

Is the GAIA add on worth it in your opinion even if the spectral classes and types of stars is randomized?  And is it recommended to turn off all procedural stuff?
I dont mind limiting stars to around Mag 8.5, thats the dimmest the human eye can see anyway under no light pollution.
I dont use a very high resolution on the monitor I run it on, it's 1280x1024.  I have all very high settings enabled and a 6 GB video card and 16 GB RAM.

If it is ram limited than PC won't matter. The program is 32bit and therefore limited to around 4GB usable.

Running out of usable RAM is almost always the issue with my system. I'm on a 960M with a i7 6700HQ CPU and it runs fine until it reaches 3GB of RAM. I use a laptop to record. I can get up to maybe 19-20 in magnitude in 1080p and about 16-17 in 4k (procedural stars, planets disabled). The video has a mg limit of 14.5-15.
And is it recommended to turn off all procedural stuff?
Yes. It's written on my mod thread to disable procedural stars to be able to experience the full effect of the catalog.
Oh. I have a youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/c/Phunnie

Mine happens anywhere from mag 9-12 only if I move too quick, which is where it chugs trying to load the tiles across the sky.  If I move slowly and let it load only a few titles at a time I can get away with much higher mag without crashing.

I'm trying to figure out where all my RAM usage is coming from.  My computer isn't lagging at all but I find it weird that I have used up 6 gig of video ram, 11 gig of regular ram and 28 gig of virtual ram.
It looks like most of it is on browsers (except maybe the video ram part.)

I liked the way you unfolded the story and of course the blending of the music/audio with the stunning visuals (Can't imagine how it will look with 0990 :o). Nice work :) .

I can't edit the old post.

So I upload the YouTube link again.
