Is the GAIA add on worth it in your opinion even if the spectral classes and types of stars is randomized? And is it recommended to turn off all procedural stuff?Guys its (probably) not (just) the cpu.. the program runs out of usable RAM. The moment it hits 3+ gigs of RAM usage it quits to desktop. I have a monster CPU and have the same fate.. I tried the 5M database and even when I disable proc+cat. galaxies, proc.stars & proc clusters I can go up to ~10.5 Magnitude (veery slowly) and then desktop.. If the above are enabled I can not even dream of 10 magnitude: ~8-9 and desktop.. (all this @ 5760x1080 resolution as I have 3 TVs..).
Running out of usable RAM is almost always the issue with my system. I'm on a 960M with a i7 6700HQ CPU and it runs fine until it reaches 3GB of RAM. I use a laptop to record. I can get up to maybe 19-20 in magnitude in 1080p and about 16-17 in 4k (procedural stars, planets disabled). The video has a mg limit of 14.5-15.Guys its (probably) not (just) the cpu.. the program runs out of usable RAM. The moment it hits 3+ gigs of RAM usage it quits to desktop. Yes. It's written on my mod thread to disable procedural stars to be able to experience the full effect of the catalog. And is it recommended to turn off all procedural stuff?
I'm trying to figure out where all my RAM usage is coming from. My computer isn't lagging at all but I find it weird that I have used up 6 gig of video ram, 11 gig of regular ram and 28 gig of virtual ram.If it is ram limited than PC won't matter. The program is 32bit and therefore limited to around 4GB usable.
