Planets with potentially breathable atmospheres

JKerman, that planet does not have a breathable atmosphere for humans. The O[sup]2[/sup] pressure is too low (without significant adaptation to the lower pressure) and the CO[sup]2[/sup] content would be lethal for prolonged exposure. Plus the average temperature (73C) would make the surface uncomfortable to walk on without some thermal protection.

Stellarator,  The CO2 is low enough (barely) and he has the temperature in Farenheight so the planet is actually only slightly warmer than Earth at 23C.  The Oxygen is enough but again barely and most people would struggle.  So this planet has a breathable atmosphere but it would certainly not be comfortable.

You guys should read the first post of this topic before calling an atmosphere breathable. You forgot to take the SO2 into account, its pressure has to be below 5.10^-6 at worst, and below 1.10^-6 to be comfortable.

I was realizing that as well some days ago after looking more into details on the planets posted here. I still haven't found any that has suitable SO2 levels, the search is still going I guess.

I didn't search for hours in 9.9.0, yet I found one terra with a (almost) perfect atmosphere for humans :

It seems you have better odds to find decent levels of SO2 in 9.9.0. Now I often find terras (with enough O2 and tolerable CO2) where SO2 pressure is between 10^-6 and 5.10^-6 atm, though I'm not sure this kind of level would be ok for a long term breath (in addition to the smell).

Also this planet is quite hot, not sure how we would adapt to such temperatures. I have also found kind of breathable atmospheres but there is always one little thing that's isn't right, making the planet suitable for humans but not quite as Earth, which I guess is what we are looking for.

Yes, it's hot but most importantly there is no water on it ! I wonder how pluricellular life managed to develop here.

Does it seem like 0.990 has made it much harder to find truly Earthlike planets (temperate marine terras with multicellular marine and terrestrial life in non-tidally-locked orbits around G-type stars)?

That is because it is.  It is supposed to be.  Truly marine planets like Earth are quite rare due to the narrow bulk makup required for them.  Nature tends towards global oceans or dry to lakey terras rather than marine worlds.  That said, however,  they are not to hard to find with the correct filter settings.

I generally ignore SO2 as SE seems to have far too much of it in the first place.

And as Julian said I also find it odd now that terra with oceans have most of the time really high atmosphere pressure and are tidally lock, I don't see the link between those two characteristics and the presence of water on the planet's surface.

High pressures would tend to "leak" liquids to a planets surface not to mention make the liquids far more stable.  So, high-pressure worlds having more liquids than lower pressure worlds makes sense in general.  There are obviously exceptions but as a general rule the higher the pressure the more likely a planet is to have liquids.

What are the most Earthlike worlds you've found in 0.990? RS 8496-946-7-1778819-783 A4 is the best looking one in the Milky Way I've seen so far, although as usual there's too much sulfur dioxide, and greater than 0.5 atm pp oxygen is borderline unsafe:

I found one with not enough O2, one with TOO much O2(and pressure), and one with too much SO2.
