Planets with potentially breathable atmospheres

18 Oct 2017 11:07

Sorry, I keep forgetting to mention, the star can't be under 0.7 Solar masses, because those stars have really huge flares that could really damage a planet's atmosphere, and can't be over 1.3 solar masses, as those stars don't live very long.

Is there a way to edit the settings so that SO2 naturally occurs in smaller concentrations?

In the Red Dwarf novels they talk about terrraforming planets and moons.

I wonder if that's possible. Say to do on Titan, for example.

Is this close enough to breathe?

Not bad, but you want more O2, around 8% minimum, you've got 5%
Plus you want less than 100ppm of SO2, you've got 865ppm.
All in all though that's a pretty good find.
Try colder planets. :)

Oxygen rich, required CO2 adaption, constant conjunctivitis, & stinky but if you like -100F, this might be your new home.

Nicely done!  Especially those first three!  I'll have to spend some time exploring these worlds. :)

Planets with potentially breathable atmospheres

Thanks! They certainly are a thrill to explore. Here are a pair of planets extremely close to being breathable, both are in the same sector of a galaxy, only 110.40 light years away from each other! This time though the temperatures are better suited to human living conditions. Its a shame everyone will die within an hour of the welcome wagon arriving. :?

Finally, a planet you can stay on longer than 1 hour and not freeze to death. Ok, well you might melt, but.... O2 is in the permanent acclimatization level, the CO2 is in the adaptation range, the SO2 is around 46ppm at 1atm, so you could theoretically live longer than a few hours unprotected, and the H2S is barely detectable. I think this might be the only Warm Terra I found that isn't a death trap after 60 minutes. woo-hoo
